Jasmine knocked loudly on her Grandma's door.
"Who is it?" She heard her grandmother yell through the door.
"It's your granddaughter. I need to get cleaned up."
"Oh, goodness honey, what happen to you ?" Jasmine's grandmother asked once she open the door.
"I'll tell you later once I've finish showering because right now I feel a rash coming along," Jasmine said as she rushed to the bathroom.
After an hour-long shower and preparation, Jasmine was ready to socialize with her grandmother. As she explains the story to her grandmother, all she saw was a disapproving look on her face.
"How could a person of color ever think of fraternizing with the enemy?" Jasmine's Grandma asked once she finished her story.
"A person of color who has decided to come to terms with their time. Come one, this is the 21st century. We are a world full of diversity. It is time that we don't let past grudges hold us back from mending."
"No! It is time for little girls your age to stop being whitewash and getting corrupted by the evil ways of your generation. Dammit! Lord knows I pray for you every night. Not only did you turn against your own kind, but you also don't know which gender you belong with. You are truly confused, because isn't it obvious? There's no such thing as being attracted to two genders. That's the devil speaking through you! So hurry up and get saved, because your generation will be the one who brings us to our downfall!" Jasmine's Grandma said while scolding her.
"Who's to say that me being with a female is wrong? It's all the same love!"
"The Bible, it even says that women are meant to be with men because that's how we reproduce! That's how we get the world to survive. Until the day a woman can get you pregnant is the day I'll consider your sexuality being valid," she said in a snarky tone.
"You really going to lecture me about a book that has been paraphrase over 3,000 years ago. We don't know if that section of the Bible holds truth to it anymore! I just can't believe you are saying this to me. You're my grandmother!" Jasmine screamed.
"A grandmother who should have disown you from being my granddaughter. Remember your mother put you in a house that I saved you from. I don't owe you anything, word-wise. Should be grateful I'm even listening to you."
"Whatever," Jasmine said with tears flooding her eyes. "No wonder grandpa left you. You are absolute trash! I won't be visiting you anymore with this negative, prejudice mindset you have," Jasmine said in distraught.
"Rot in hell, Jasmine. Rot in hell!" her grandmother yelled while she slammed the door shut.
Jasmine walked in the cold weather with her head down, while tears ran down her face.
Why was life so unfortunate??
