Brooke question was finally answer the minute she walked into her Creative Writing class. There in the far corner, was Jasmine typing furiously on her phone. She was so caught up in the action that she didn't notice Brooke walking towards her until the last minute. It so happen that the only available seat was next to Jasmine.
"What are you doing here?" Brooke ask immediately after she settled down. Jasmine took her attention off her phone and settle her gaze onto Brooke.
"Well, isn't it obvious. I attend school here."
"I was never made aware of this."
"You never asked," Jasmine challenge with a raise of her brow. An awkward moment of silence passed between them before Jasmine return her attention back to the phone. This hurt Brooke a little bit inside because she liked having Jasmine attention. Staring into her beautiful brown eyes sparked something in her, and even though this feeling frighten her; she couldn't find it in her to deny it. However, she knew she couldn't get caught up in this female. Her brain wouldn't allow her to in the end, as her brain was her one true enemy.
Eventually, class started and Jasmine steadily stayed on her phone. Brooke didn't take her as a slacker, but she guessed looks could be deceiving. She really tried to ignore her, but something came ahold of her and caused her to sneak a peak in Jasmine generally direction. She read half the line before Jasmine made eye contact with her. Blush consumed Brooke's cheek as she tried to avert her gaze, but it was too late she was caught in the action.
"Wow, I never picture you for a nosy type," Jasmine said with mild amusement
"I'm so sorry," Brooke said in embarrassment, "I don't know what came over me. You were just typing away furiously, and it was kind of distracting, and I couldn't help it, so I look over. I subconsciously didn't mean to. I'm so sorry!"
"Brooke, honey breath. It's okay. I shouldn't have been so rude and texted throughout this class."
"Yeah, must have been some serious messages."
"I guess...," she said in a distant voice.
Brooke was a bit disappointed that Jasmine didn't fall for the open invitations to explain more, but moved past that disappointment.
"Well, just so you know you missed the whole explanation of the assignment he assigns us to do. You could have partners if you want."
A smiled spread along Jasmine's lip as she stares at Brooke.
"Is this your way of asking to be my partner?"
"Actually, no. I'm more of a work alone person. Can't trust partners."
"Well, I guess you are going to have to change today because I Jasmine, desire you Brooke to be my partner."
"Wow, you propose that statement as if you were going to ask me out."
"Maybe, I will in the future."
"Are you trying to hint at something?"
"Maybe, I am..." suddenly the bell rang interrupting Jasmine in mid-sentence.
Jasmine then turns towards Brooke while standing up.
"Well, it's settled. You are officially my partner. Have a good day, Brooke," Jasmine said while flashing a smile.
Brooke sat in utter shock as she watches her figure leave the room. "What is she doing to me?" she thought in a quick panic.
