"Im going across the river to check on the Red Dragon settlement across the river. Does anyone wish to join?" Eris asked going outside to be blinded by the light.
Yona said she would come and told her to hold on to assemble a proper unit. Its not safe to go alone anymore. To many risks. You never know where the enemy hides.
After a few minutes she comes back out with twelve people. Six archers and six melee. James is among the mix.
He said he wanted to get out. Not to be stuck in the hole until he dies. Yona said ok. Thomas and Ron came along with him. Devoted to their leader.
"James. If you cause any trouble Im sending you down the Kanawha. Got me?" Eris said, staring him down.
"I make no promises. Im only coming to find Daniel." James replied looking at the clear sky.
Eris grunted and they set off.
"Why dont we take the cars. It would save us time." James asked, trudging along in the back.
"Its a short walk, James. No need to waste gas." She said loud enough for him to hear. "Uh, my god. Why did we save him? He is ungodly annoying."
"We need extra men to protect the base. I dont know the real reason myself." Yona said, scanning the area for trouble.
Last night he was giving Eris a headache about Daniel and Jack. About how they stole his army and made off with lots of supplies. How he wants his revenge and, blah, blah, blah. She didn't pay much attention to him after the first minute. She was ready to charm him, put a blind fold on, and lead him out into the street for the achers to have practice. It was a good thought but the guy is thickheaded.
James is in the back with his two buddies yakking up a storm about his traitors, how they are gonna kick ass. Start a fight and take back his men like they might actually be there.
Everyone tuned each other out starting conversations with no real purposes. Lots of the archers are boys talking dirty about girls. Typical boys bathroom talk. The girls were talking about their life before the disease. Yona and Eris were just chatting about organizing an agreement with R.D or see if they can trade anything.
Eris has a little hand gun in her waistband. A tiny revolver that can pack a punch. It is in case of an emergency. Guns and ammo are rare to come by since shipments have stopped. In her backpack contains two boxes of ammo and some snacks.
James tried searching cars to find things. Eris got onto him saying one can go off and start a full scale war. They argued about it for a half the journey. She was really frustrated now, wanting to shoot him. As you can she really dont like him at all. When she gets the chance he is gone.
The two archer boys are now quiet. They got off on trucks and just stopped. Now they are enjoying the scenery getting off the bridge. The girls have fallen silent listening to James bickker.
Hannah is not happy at all. Her eye started to twitch so she ran up to the front with Yona and Eris. "Can you please shut him up? I can't stand him anymore." She said looking to Eris for guidance.
"Sadly, I cannot make him do anything. He won't even help dispose of the bodies back home." She said looking at the library as they walked down to a yellow school sign.
It has been vandalized. Red Dragons, with an arrow pointing right in black. Taking a turn you can see kids running in between houses with gardening tools and bags. Two guards stand at the front gate watching them. They are dressed in baggy clothes and hats. One looked toward them and pointed saying something. The other nodded and disappeared.
