Tony Stark x reader [Stutter]

First Tony Stark (more like stank lol) oneshot, he's one of my favourite characters so this was very overdue. Hope you enjoy!

Prompt: Tony is a very flirty guy but whenever he's around you all this confidence seems to go, leaving him a stuttering mess

Warnings: overusing the same punctuation and words lol

You knew what kind of a person Tony was, very flirtatious and confident. Many people had warned you that he would flirt with almost any woman who had a face, and since you were exceptionally beautiful (*) it was certain he would be very forward. What shocked everybody was when you introduced yourself and he stared for a moment then shook your hand stiffly and quickly shuffled back to his work after a few mumbles to suffice as an introduction.

Joining the avengers with their fight against Ultron was both a dream come true and a nightmare. You knew you would be a huge help but still felt a little intimidated by the science bros, you didn't think your experiments were anywhere near their standard, at the moment you were following Brue Banner through a maze of corridors to reach Tony's lab. Bruce was nice and seemed very keen to have you on board, but as you reached the lab door he began to warn you.

"Look, Tony's a great scientist but not the best person when it comes to women. He would sleep with any woman who said yes (which is a surprising amount) so be careful." He pushed a button on the side and the door slid open.

Just a few meters from the door was Tony, hunched over a desk covered in mechanical parts and Loki's scepter on a stand in front of him. He was wearing worn out jeans and an AC/DC band shirt, very different to the sort of things you had seen him wear at parties. His black hair and beard were messy and it was obvious that he had been up for a while. Bruce cleared his throat and Tony managed to pry his eyes from the tools and smirked at Banner.

"I swear, I've almost got his thing cracked, Ultron won't know what hit him."

"Nice work, this is (Y/N), she's joining the team, her research is bound to be helpful" the doctor gestured to you.

Tony's eyes slid from Bruce to you and his smile dropped. He seemed frozen in place so you took the lead introducing yourself and holding out a hand.

"Hi I'm (Y/N)" accompanied with a smile.

He didn't move for a moment then shook your hand once and mumbled something that sounded like 'Tony' before going back to his work. This put a damper on your mood and made you even more nervous. Bruce led you to meet the rest of the team and reassured you it was just Tony being weird but you could shake the feeling from when he shook your hand.

(Time Skip)

Unsurprisingly you helped massively with the defeat of Ultron and despite the team's loss of Pietro they still managed to be joyful. Of course, Tony decided to through a party to celebrate so here you were. Looking amazing, drink in hand and looking around for either Clint or Wada. You had gotten pretty close to those two and found them easiest to talk to. You spotted Wada having what looked like a very heated conversation with Iron man himself, after a little aggressive looking language from the Scarlet Witch Tony threw his hands up in the air and marched off. He stopped and began to nervously scan the crowd of people till he made eye contact with you. As he bee-lined to your direction, you hid your face in the drink you held. Over the past month you and Tony had hardly spoken, he had been too awkward and you were still hurt from your first introduction, though you had developed a crush on the genius. Suddenly he was beside you.

"H-hay can I talk to you, a-alone?" He was rubbing the back of his neck and shuffling his feet.

"Um, sure" you mumbled back.

Now that I think about it this whole thing with Ultron is done, they don't need me anymore. He's probably going to ask me to leave

You tried to shake the negative thoughts from your head as you followed him onto the balcony, but it was the only thing that made sense.

"Um...ok well, I-I've been meaning to tell y-you something..." He refused to look you in the eye and instead was staring into the distance.

"What?" you asked bluntly.

"Err, w-well um...I um-"

With a sudden wave of confidence, you cut him off.

"Oh, for God's sake Tony why can't you just talk to me, you flirt with every other girl but when it come to me you can't a word out, why?!" you almost yelled.

He was looking at you now, shocked at the sudden outburst, that also surprised you. you were about to apologise but he stopped you.

"You want to know why I can't talk to you, because you mess with my brain. every other girl it's like: 'she's pretty but her personality sucks, oh well I'm not going to make this last' but with you it's totally different. Like I want to stay with you, not just have a one-night stand. I don't just care about your beautiful looks but your amazing personality too, I find myself draw to you at every opportunity and its killing me. If you don't feel the same its fine I'll try and push past this, to be honest Wanda's the one who-" fed up with his rambling you lunched yourself at him and luckily landed on his lips.

He paused only a moment before kissing you back, it was intense full of passion and sincerity, he meant what he said you were different to the other girls. He wanted to stay with you. He loved you. When you pulled apart for air he was grinning like an idiot.

"So, you feel the same, I'm guessing?"

Punching his arm and giggling the two of you walked hand in hand back to the party. Wanda was very pleased.
