The attack on New York had left most of the city in ruins, and even more of it unstable. There were reports of more and more buildings falling down even a month after the attack. Things didn't look too good for the broken city but slowly hope was growing, of course there were buildings that had to still run despite the fact they were so dangerous. There were even places that didn't know they were close to collapsing. Despite all the destruction life had carried on, which is why (Y/N) found herself doing a coffee run for the higher ups in her office at eight thirty in the morning.

Swinging the glass door open the scent of coffee beans smashed her in the face, it was a nice smell though. Such a sudden change in temperature cause her face to tingle as the cold from outside slipped away. It wasn't too busy, despite the bad weather, three people in line. An old woman, who couldn't decide what she wanted, a tall muscular blond man, and a teenager who clearly wasn't impressed with anything. Hopefully the bosses wouldn't mind waiting a little, they were pretty nice though so she didn't worry too much. Her train of though was interrupted when quite squeaking reached her ears. The sound was distant, but clear, though she couldn't pin point where it was coming from. Brushing it off, she pulled out her phone and began to text a few co-workers about her delay. This time the squeaking was much louder, almost like cracking, again she ignored it.

Now it was beginning to sound like it was coming from above her. As the sound grew louder she spared a glance at the ceiling, as she did her eyes caught onto the slight cracks that were forming. They began to spread and grow, the sound very prominent now, her eyes snapped back to the shop.

"It's coming down!" she yelled as people started to take notice.

Suddenly a huge crack appeared and separated a chunk of concrete from the rest, causing it to fall. The blond man was right under it but didn't seem to notice what was happening. Before she could stop herself (Y/N) through her body into him, knocking them both out the way. Those inside rushed out the store quickly, but the noises were stopping and all movement ceased. The two stood together and she brushed the fallen dust off the neat work shirt.

"Odin's beard, that was fast..." the blond stranger mumbled.

He towered over her and was incredibly good looking, oddly familiar as well. She felt her eyes wondering to his slightly tight T-shirt before coming back to reality and facing him properly.

"You okay?"

"Oh yes I'm fine thanks to you" he smiled slightly "strange, normally I'm the one doing the saving"

That was when it clicked who he was. This was Thor, son of Odin, one of the Avengers who protected this city. And she just saved his ass. Actually, he probably would have been fine if it had hit him but it's the thought that counts.

"Holy crap, you're Thor"

"Indeed, I am, but I'm afraid I don't know your name"

"Oh um, I'm (Y/N)"

They shook hands and she matched his smile. There was a brief pause before he decided to be a little bold.

"Would you perhaps like to grab a coffee sometime?"

As if on que there was a loud groan from the ceiling and a little more dust fell. He grabbed her hand and the two dashed out the shop before the roof came crashing down.

"Um, perhaps in another shop..."

She laughed and Thor smiled even more. It was a beautiful sound, that laugh.

"I get off work at six" she offered.

"Sounds good"

They exchanged phone numbers and he peaked her cheek before walking towards the Avenger's tower, while she headed for the Lexcorp building.
