Steve Rogers x Reader [calm with you]

It was no secret that the Avengers had made enemies, quite a few actually. Of course, the main one being HYDRA, since they made Bucky the winter solider. They also changed Pietro and Wanda when conducting their experiments. Thankfully the two had been found by the team which prevented a major human weapons attack. Though the twins were not the only ones who were tested. It was clear that there had to be rejects, no experiment goes right the first time, but all of said rejects had to have been disposed of as the base was empty. All those associated with the tests had been presumed dead when the base collapsed, along with the death of the main man behind it all.

A lot of time had passed since Ultron and the experiments long forgotten by SHEILD, however HYDRA was still running. Missions to take down and explore HQ's continued and more of the organisations regime could be discovered. Recently the team had just got back from Saudi Arabia, where an underground base had been located and finally destroyed. It wasn't until SHEILD tech agents were analysing paperwork that survived, that panic ensued.

"Rogers, Stark, Get in here!" Fury was pissed to say the least.

The two were quick to move into the commanders office. He was seated at the long glass desk, holding a piece of slightly burnt paper up and frowning more than ever before. Suddenly Fury slammed the paper down and stood up.

"According to these medical files, which were recovered from the base you just blew up, another one of their experiments survived the prosses. We've got a weapon of mass destruction in the hands of our biggest enemy!"

"Ok let's just calm down a moment" Tony's attempt to make things better seemed to only intensify Fury's anger "...or don't, we checked the entire base there wasn't anything there"

"So, go find out where it really is" he said through gritted teeth, fists clutching the desk so tight Steve thought it might crack.

"What are we looking for exactly?" he mumbled.

"A girl, ability to phase through anything, similar to vision, but the notes here make me think they may be having issues controlling her."

"So?"

"SO GET TO IT STARK!"

The energy being produced by such a powerful human wasn't hard to track, so only a few days later Steve, Tony, Clint and Wanda were loading up the quin jet on their way to Brazil. When they arrived, it became clear this base was a lot larger then what was expected, so Clint stayed in the jet shooting the exterior. Tony was near a control panel opening doors and guiding the last two. It was like an endless maze and the further they went the harder it became to hear Tony through the com. Sure enough they reached a large Hospital like room, and all ear pieces immediately died. While Wanda held a few lesser guards back, the super solider began to work through the back rooms. Most were empty, a few had wheelchairs and medical beds, blood stained walls and floors were everywhere, the smell of chemicals and death hung thick in the air. Beginning to lose hope, he tried on final door. It was like the others but there was a girl curled up in the corner, she looked afraid, her hair messy and eyes wide. One of the HYDRA agents was standing over her and trying to grab the girls arm. Every time his hand should have made contact with her skin, it phased right through it.

Found her... Steve thought.

With flick of his shield the agent was down. Slowly he approached her, holding his hands up to show he meant no harm. Still she shied away from his touch.

"It's ok, I'm not here to hurt you. My names Steve, who are you?" his voice was gentle, afraid of scaring her more.

"(Y/N)" it was barely a whisper but he still heard.

"Alright (Y/N), come with me and we can help you."

There was a pause. He knelt to her level and held a hand out.

"You...you're that Captain America guy...they talk about you, they hate you" she seemed to relax a bit at this realisation.

"Yeah, I guess we're enemies to them" he smiled a little and she nodded.

Another pause. Slowly she reached out and took his hand. Gently he pulled her up and lead the way out, Wanda having cleared the guards and Tony getting the ear pieces up and running. Clint was waiting. (Y/N) was sat next to Steve on a bench, their hands never braking.

"How long were you there for?"

"Brazil or HYDRA?"

"Both"

"We got to Brazil a month ago, and I think I was born into HYDRA..." her voice trailed off and tears began to sting her (E/C) irises.

"It's ok, you're safe now" he pulled her against his chest as she sobbed softly "wait why don't I phrase through you?"

"It only happens when I panic, I'm calm with you. For some reason"

He grinned and she smiled back.
