It was cold behind the bin and the steel against my body didn't help. I thought about the fact I was the only one who suffered from feeling cold in my family. It wasn't totally a vampire thing, although I truly believed that being a vampire allowed them better blood flow and warmer blood. That's in my non-scientific view point. What was more obvious was the fact that mum, dad and our two guests were all brought up in Russia and it was certainly cold there. Steven was my only proof that it had something to do with them being vampires too. He never seemed to notice the cold, although he did dress in warmer clothes than our parents.
It was a while before Brian reappeared. He waited until the door was shut and walked over towards me to check his supply. He entered the shadow and turned to face the alley, checking for anyone before he opened the bag he was carrying.
His back was to me. I quietly shuffled myself out from behind the bin and raised the hammer, the back of his head was there for the cracking, only I couldn't move. Brian pulled out the drugs wrapped in some sort of transparent film. I looked at the back at his head, willing myself to do it, his head was going blurred and I realized tears were coming down my face. I so desperately wanted to go through with it, but instead I dropped the hammer.
The noise of the hammer hitting the ground sent a fright running through Brian as he turned around abruptly dropping his package. He focused on me, there was fear on his face. Recognition followed and the fear disappeared.
'You', he said aggressively and threw a punch that hit me in the eye, I fell back against the wall and down to the ground. He quickly kicked the hammer away from my vicinity. He wasn't satisfied with the fact that my eye had quickly swollen up, he kicked out at me. I raised my knees to protect my body. He leant down, his fist coiled and his arm recoiled like a archer arrow ready to be fired. I kicked out in defense. My target was between his legs, only I kicked higher than that, just below his ribcage. He stumbled backwards, lost his balance and fell backwards.
I waited for his to hit the ground, only he didn't. He stopped in midair. I looked at him confused, as his sweatshirt reddened. It was at that point that I saw a metal spike protruding from his stomach.
I rushed to my feet and rushed over to him. I hovered over him wondering what I could do to help him. I pulled out the mobile phone mum had given me and dialed 99.... I paused. I realized that was what I had intended to achieve.
I looked at him, he looked alive. I touched his neck and his head turned to me. He opened his mouth and blood and white bubbles foamed up his mouth.
I watched him until I was sure he was dead.
