That night when mum and dad came up to settle us in bed, mum kissed me as usual, only this time it was different, there was a tenderness that I had never felt before.

'Sleep well', she said

'I don't know if I can', I explained.

'I know', she said, 'just try and get some sleep'.

She left with dad. Steven picked up his book and flicked to the page he had left it. I looked over at him. He knew I was watching him, but he ignored me. I got out of bed and walked over to the window and sat on the sill. The street lamps lit the street. I had read somewhere that the lights went off later, it was the local government attempting to save money. It made for an easier hunting ground for vampires, although I doubted that they would hunt on the door step of other vampires.

My eyes caught movement and for a moment I couldn't determine where I had seen it. I scanned the street and saw nothing. I wondered if it was a cat. Cat's were always walking the street, occasionally I would hear them fighting whilst I was in bed.

The movement occurred again and this time I saw where it came from, only it wasn't movement it was the flick of a lighter in a car down the road. I studied the car and a thought entered my mind, that it was the same car I believed was following me earlier. Was I being paranoid?

Another thought hit me and I jumped off the sill and went into my wardrobe and pulled out a bag and the drugs.

'What are you doing?', Steven finally asked, putting his book to the side.

I turned to him and lifted the drugs up in the air.
