It had almost been forty-five minutes, and I hadn't heard a word from Kyle.

Just like me to get my hopes up.

I signed when suddenly my stomach went wild.

That's right, I didn't eat lunch.

I drug myself downstairs only to hear my mother talking to someone in the kitchen.  I turned the corner to see Kyle awkwardly trying to make conversation with her.

"Oh hi hun, you're little boyfriend came to visit," she grinned.

My face burned red, "He's not my boyfriend."

"At least not yet," he winked.

I felt my face heat up even more, "Hey, why don't we go upstairs?"

Kyle agreed, so we left my mother who was still trying to talk to us in the kitchen.

"So where were you at lunch?" Kyle asked once we got up there.

I felt my heart drop.

Do I tell him?  There isn't much of a point in hiding it.  He'll figure it out when I'm not at lunch tomorrow or the day after that...

"The girls and I had a bit of a falling out," I shrugged.

"What? But I thought you fit in really well with them?" He questioned.

"You aren't the only shocked one," I let out an ironic laugh.

"Why did it happen?" he asked.

"Well, apparently, I took someone's guy," I confessed.

"Who's?" he asked.

"Bebe's," I replied.

He let out a loud laugh, "Bebe and I are nothing.  Never have been, never will be. I don't like sluts.  She parties, I don't. I need a girl who has a future out of high school.  Not a girl who needs booze and dick to make her feel good about herself."

"She seems pretty dead set on the two of you being together," I shrugged.

"She's also an idiot," he laughed.  "Don't worry about her.  If you need somewhere to sit at lunch, go ahead and sit with me."

My eyes lit up, "Really?"

"Yeah, I wouldn't want my girlfriend sitting anywhere else," he smirked.

I almost missed it.

Girlfriend?

"G-girlfriend?" I stuttered.

"I'm hoping so, unless you don't want to be.  But if that's the case, this just got really awkward," he nervously laughed.

"No, of course I do," I panicked.

"Good," he grinned.

He leaned in and gave me a peck on the cheek.

"Let's watch a movie or something," he suggested.

I quickly agreed, trying to contain all my inner excitement.
