"Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many; the intelligence of a few perceives what has been carefully hidden."

- Phaedrus

"I'm home," Jay greeted as soon as he stepped into the house. Usually his girlfriend would welcome him at the door with warm hugs and short kisses but lately, they have been growing distant and cold towards each other.

"Where is she?" he went to check every room in the house but Elena was nowhere to be seen. Loneliness engulfed him as he plopped down on the sofa, thinking about how things have changed drastically.

If he had not caused her miscarriage, if he had not pushed her away, if he had been at least a little bit more attentive towards her, she wouldn't have went away.

His work was always the issue between them. Elena couldn't stand being left alone at home everyday with no one to confide to, talk to, play with and spend time with. Jay's work was so distracting and time-consuming, he barely had any time for her let alone know about her pregnancy.

The one tragic night he came home late, it was the biggest fight they ever had. One that led them to physically inflict pain and verbally abuse one another. The one that caused Elena to lose their child and her life, because he went too extreme with his rage.

"Now that I've lost both my child, and the love of my life, it's time for me to go back to them and apologise for all the sins I've committed."

And his life ended with a quick bang.
