Cheating Part 2

The night grew older. We were still separated by a room. I didn't want to make the first approach because it wasn't my fault. Catching my boyfriend red-handed being cuddly with his ex-girlfriend and having him throwing insults at me for being angry, that wasn't something I could easily brush off.

"So what do you want to do now?" I heard the door open, followed by his question. I turned away, not wanting to face him.

"Babe, tell me, what do you want to do now?"

"I want you to tell me the truth. Were you cheating on me, or not?" I asked, choking on my own words. The thought of my boyfriend being with another woman hurts just enough. I needed to know the truth, whether or not it'll break me.

He sighed. I turned to face him this time. I breathed in, readying myself for the moment of truth.

"I admit, Minah and I have been hanging out together a lot. I did lie to you, sometimes we weren't meeting up for work but for casual purposes. But I did not cheat on you," he explained.

"Then why were the both of you leaning on each other? Why were you so close to her? Why did you have to sneak out in the middle of the night to meet her? Why did you reject my calls? Why couldn't you be honest with me?" I bombarded him with a lot of questions.

He walked over to me and held my hand. I was fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall.

"I, I'm not over her..." He spoke carefully.

Processing his words, I nodded my head and hung it low afterwards. It was my cue to leave. I couldn't stay with someone who still have lingering feelings for his ex.

"Thank you for everything Jay," I said before leaving to the room we shared to pack my stuff. Despite the excruciating pain, I had to let go. 8 years was long enough. We just weren't meant to be and I truly wish him well.
