"Open the fucking door Y/N!" Jay screamed from the other side. You had locked him out of the bedroom you shared because for the past hour the both of you have been arguing about God knows what. Things were calm until nothing escalated to something.
It was unlike Jay to be aggressive in an argument especially with you. And that's what scares you because it reminded you of how you would hide in your room from your drunkard, abusive father when you were 10.
Tears were spilling profusely, you cupped your ears, not wanting to hear anything from Jay because it was understatedly a terrifying moment for you. Wildest thoughts running through your mind, the possibility of Jay breaking down the door and pounce on you for being an impossible wife.
You were crying and crying. The tears were so bad that you could feel your eyes losing its vision. As you cried even more, your head felt lighter and you soon lost awareness of your surrounding. In a matter of seconds, you blacked out.
"Wake up, baby," you heard a faint voice calling out for you. Opening your eyes, you found Jay looking over you with worry burning in his eyes. Though the room was dark, you could still see it.
"It was just a nightmare, baby. Come, let me hug you to sleep," he continued.
Then you realised, it was one of those nights where you dream of Jay turning tyrannical. You were drenched from head to toe with sweat though your body felt cold and face was covered with tears.
Hyperventilating still, Jay suddenly pulled you closer to him and rubbed your back and hair. "I will never hurt you, I promise. I will be the man your father never was, to you and our beautiful daughter," he assured you.
You calmed down and fell asleep in no time, safely and peacefully in his arms.
Next morning, you woke up to your daughter's jumps on the bed. It wasn't abnormal though. Ever since she could walk, there was never a morning you or Jay had boring. Your daughter would always wake the both of you up cheerfully and energetically.
"My precious daughter is awake," you heard Jay spoke with his voice raspy and still sleepy.
"Appa! Play with me!" Your daughter nudged.
"Let Appa sleep for 5 more minutes then I'll make breakfast for my two favourite girls and we'll head out to the kids' cafe, okay?"
"Okay!"
You slowly rose from the bed and stared at your husband quietly, still reminded of the nightmare you had last night and the ones you had for several nights.
"Eomma! Why are you staring at Appa?"
Immediately, Jay woke up and looked at you worriedly. "What's wrong? Are you okay? Are you sick? Are you hungry?" He was panicking at your abnormal behaviour and that made you laugh.
"I love you," you said and jumped on top of him while attacking him with tickles, with your daughter joining you.
That very moment was your sole assurance. The past may or may not repeat, but you trust that Jay loves the both you and your daughter so much that he would never be the man your father ever was.
