Gone

He entered his once lively apartment only to be greeted by dead silence. Dreading his steps to the sofa, he walked with his back hunched and let out a loud sigh. He thought, if he had not impulsively lashed out on her for his own selfish emotions, she wouldn't have left and be deprived of the happiness she was promised but failed.

He scanned the house, looking for even the subtlest hint of memories of her. Even if they were vague and fading, he needed to be reminded of her at least for the tiniest bit. Because he missed her so much and craved her presence and touch.

Two months before, he committed the biggest mistake he's ever made; telling her to leave. And that was exactly what she did. Betrayed, disappointed, and hurt, she could only take in that much. Not wanting to live another second more in misery, she settled on a decision to leave for good.

Being the complacent asshole he always was, he thought she would come back within a few days, begging for his love. She usually did. But this time, she was gone for real. And that was how he knew that getting her back was impossible.

As much as he wished to turn back time, he figured that letting her go was the best thing to do. He'd done nothing but hurt her in the course of their relationship.

Getting over someone wasn't easy. There were four stages to it; grieve, denial, acceptance, recuperation. But it seemed like he was stuck in the first stage for ages. It was hard to let her go. Every second he spent in his miserable life felt like death.

That night, it was no different than any other. Except for one thing.

His phone rang and an unknown number displayed on his screen. Picking up the phone, his voice sounded cold, "hello?"

"Jay," a voice spoke through the phone. His heart jumped at the familiar voice, knowing damn well who it belonged to. It was hers.

"It's me."

He stayed silent, refusing to believe anything because for the past week, he had been imagining things that weren't true. And that phone call could be one of it.

"Jay?"

"Sohyun?" He finally answered.

"I miss you."

She hung up the phone. He tried calling her back but in a matter of seconds, her phone went out of reach. Devastated and desperate, he did not stop trying to reach her.

Thankfully, after an hour of trying, her phone became available and she answered. His voice was filled with immense guilt and desperation. Knowing that, she decided to ask him to meet her. And of course, being still obviously head over heels for her, he agreed.

They met that night at the place where they officially became a couple and broke up - Fallen Fountains.

Nervous, coldly perspiring, his heart skipped a beat when he saw her approaching him from a distance. She still looked as beautiful as ever. The moonlight shining on her like she was royalty.

Unleashing his long pent up feelings, he ran up to her and hugged her tightly. Though extremely taken aback, she returned his hug because she missed him as much as he missed her. The two compensating their lust for one another, they forgot that they were in public.

"I miss you too much, Sohyun," he broke down.

With that, she broke down too.

"Please forgive me. Please don't leave me again. I need you in my life. I can't live without you. The past months without you had been horrible for me," he cried.

"Jay, you know I can't." Hurt, he broke free from the hug only to see that she wasn't there.

Everyone present was staring at him like he was crazy. Because, deep down, it's true. He is crazy. She's long gone, reunited with her Creator and it was all his fault. Those phone calls, flashing sights, passing memories, all for a woman he loved yet caused her death. If he had not drove her out of his house, she would still be alive.

She was gone for real and it was all his fault.
