When you walk back into the house, you're hardly surprised by the sea of faces greeting you. Every girl there is watching with demanding eyes, your group of friends in the front.

Luna is kind in the back, but looks quietly curious. Lily is with her, but gives a bright smile and a raises her eyebrows in question. Your new friend Arti is leaning on and talking to Charlie, trying to hide her interest, but Charlie is just blatantly staring at you. Mini is next to Lily and Luna, but is playing on what seems to be some kind of portable game console, seemingly the only one uninterested.

Many of the others are polite enough not to stare, but some are more similar to Charlie, if not more hostile.

You clear your throat awkwardly, at a loss for words and confidence. Seeming to notice your discomfort, Arti and Lily walk up to you, leaving Luna with Moni. The latter throws her arm across your shoulders on one side, and the former links her arm with yours on the other.

"Let's go to the kitchen. I am starvingggg!" Lily sings the last word, steering you towards said room. Arti nods and walks with you.

"Tell us everything later, Darling. Right now? Donuts are calling my name!" Everyone laughs at her joke and you take a deep, calming breath, the pressure finally off of you.

"Thanks, guys." You turn to look at each of your saviors, getting a 'no problem' and a nod from Lily, as well as a wink and a 'of course from Arti.

When you reach the kitchen, you're surprised and estatic to find actually donuts on the counter. You'd thought Arti had made it up! You give a whoop of happiness and run forward, grabbing an original recipe glaze before darting to the microwave, warming it for 8 seconds. While you wait, you turn excitedly to look at Lily and Arti, who both are watching like proud parents.

Lily has on arm around her waist and the other resting on it, that hand trying and failing to cover her smiling mouth. Arti rests one elbow on Lily's shoulder, placing other her hand on her other side's hip and shaking her head, a matching grin on her face.

You realize then how silly you must look and you blush a little.

"S-sorry... I really like donuts."

Lily laughs a little and shakes her head. "No, no! My reaction was bigger than yours!"

Moni had walked in during the conversation, and at that, snorts and nods.

"You shoulda' seen her! I've never seen anyone move that fast!"

"I have," Arti cuts in now, "it's only ever in reaction to food, though. One time, she saw cake-cookies across the room, and she got there so fast, the Flash would be jealous."

Lily blushes now, before giggling and saying quietly, "cake-cookies are my favorite..."

You all laugh, and you turn to get your donut out before taking a bite.

Mmmmmmm.....

Your eyes flutter, and you try not to moan in delight.

It's perfect...

The donut glaze is exactly the right temperature of warmth without burning; the donut itself right at the point of 'melt in your mouth'.

"That good, huh?" Charlie steps through the door, arm around Luna's shoulders.

"It's sure s-smells good, at least..." Luna's quiet voice adds on and she walks up to the open box, away from Charlie.

She giggles. "Don't mind if I do!" She takes out a chocolate sprinkle one and bites in with an appreciative hum.

Lily walks past you to the fridge, opening it and grabbing a sprite and popping it open. She then takes a chug that lasts at least 5 seconds, causing everyone in the room- except Arti- to look at her in surprise. She notices and smiles before shrugging.

"I like Sprite, man." This catalyzed another round of laughter. When it dies down, a moment of comfortable silence ensues.

You take a deep breath, and decide to break it.

"The, uh, the date was awesome..."

4 words, and everyone in the room is hooked. You look around at everyone's faces and try not to laugh. They look like needy teens watching the newest episode of Steven Universe. Expectations of excitement and plot development show on every face, even Moni's, surprisingly. You let your grin break loose.

"The scenery was beautiful. There was a canopy of tree over the walkway, and-"

"Girl!" Arti draws out the 'rl' in the word, causing your grin the widen, "we don't care about the scenery! Tell us about Jack!"

All of your friends nod in agreement.

"Ohh!" You fake surprise, causing Charlie to good-naturedly roll her eyes in your peripheral vision. "Jack! He was..." You think back, and a dreamlike grin sets on your face.

"Amazing. He was amazing. He was cute as ever, and he was particularly... not flirty, but... playful? It was so fun."

"What happened?" Lily is pressing for details next, metaphorical stars in her eyes. "What was the date? What did you do?"

You try not to laugh at her enthusiasm.

"It was a picnic. Very simple, he and I just talked on a blanket, and then played a little tag, and then looked at the clouds..."

The reactions you get are mixed. Charlie and Arti both give skeptical looks.

"Just a picnic? Nothing... fancier?" Charlie nodded along with Arti's words.

"As long as I'm with Jack..." Lily's voice cuts in. She has her cheek on her resting arms and her eyes are hazy, as if imagining the picnic made her lovesick. "I don't care where we are." She looks at you and smiles, though her expression is meloncholy. "You're a lucky girl."

"Come on!" Luna steps over and nudges Lily with her hip gently. "He hasn't chosen a wife yet! It's not like the first date shows all of the other choices! It's not that you don't have a chance, either." She directs the aside to you, and you nod in response. Charlie, Arti, and Moni nod too before leaving, patting Lily on the back as they go.

"It's anyone's game, Lils." You step up and throw an arm around her shoulder, mimicking her actions for you earlier. "I'm just glad I have friends here. Without you guys I'd be so lonely." You're statement causes a unanimous reaction: all nods and smiles.

"Wow. You guys really expect to stick together this whole time??" A new voice breaks through, and when you look, a woman is leaning against the kitchen door frame, oozing a 'how stupid can you get?' aura.

"Puh-leeze. It's obvious that this won't last. This is a competition, idiots." Her eyes are sharp and flashing, an acid-esk green. Her reddish-brownish hair is tied in a loose braid, which she tosses behind her shoulder with a bark of laughter that is somehow simultaneously snotty and bitter.

"Even if you don't break up from boy-craziness by the end, then my winning will clearly be the final straw."

"Jack doesn't like mean people." Lily's eyes are an icey fire, but you can the slight uneasiness there.

"He won't know. I'm not stupid like Jezebel." After spitting the name, the new girl's face morphs from mocking to kind in a second, so fast and seamless you're shocked by the transformation. She steps up to Lily, intimidating her despite being a few inches shorter, and grinning when Lily takes a defensive, hesitant step back.

"I can be nice when I want to be." Her voice is kind it almost convinces you she really is nice. But the illusion evaporates when she returns to her default snarl, whipping around to stalk out. She glances back at the door to deliver one final threat, "try and convince him otherwise." before she's gone.
