Mia POV
A few days passed and I started my shifts again at the diner. I haven't seen Marco but I'm sure he's okay. Destiny has made it clear that she doesn't want to see me with him, at least not alone. The way she ignored me proved it all. "Hey cute thang" I turn around to see Devour.
"Hey...how did you know I work here? I was confused. He has been texting me non-stop but I never mentioned my job to him. "Stalking me much?" I said right afterwards and we laugh.
"Maybe a little...nah but I went by your place and your mom said I could find you here." I was surprised. "My mom?" I questioned. "Yeah I know she actually is kind of cool now." He said right after.
She did have a attitude change since she seen Marco in the hospital, and again the mentioned of his girlfriend. Maybe she was coming around, but it was strange for me.
"I came because one of my homies is throwing a party later and I wanted you to come with me?" I wasn't in a party mood not since what almost happened last time. But I didn't want him to know that. "Kind of short notice don't you think?" He nodded. "It is but I really want to hang out with you, like old times. Don't say no to me." He said with a puppy face.
"Okay, just don't leave me alone at the party." I warned."I won't." He replied.

I got ready wearing a romper and black heels. I put my hair in a high ponytail and did my make up. I walked downstairs seeing my mom getting ready for work. "You look beautiful." She said with a warm smile. "Thank you." I returned the smile. "So are you going out with Devour?" She questioned.
"Yeah he invited me to a little party" I said being honest. "Oh good, I like that kid. He is different." I wanted to roll my eyes at her. "How different?" I wanted her to clarify herself.
"Nothing like..." She stopped but again I knew who she was referring too. "Marco." I finished the sentence for her. She nodded with a light smile. "Maybe I should remind you that he saved my life." She still dislike him even after what he did for me.
"I did thanked him didn't I?" She said raising an eyebrow. I shook my head, "you're never going to change your opinion about him."
"No, and I'm glad he's dating that girl...I'm glad he moved on and I think you should to with-"
"Devour? Seriously? They were friends mom and guess what Devour and I will never date because I don't care for him that way!" She was beyond her mind.
"They were! I'm sure he can make you forget Marco and whatever intentioned made you put your eyes on him." I couldn't believe her.
"You're crazy." I blurted out what was on my mind.
"Watch yourself I'm your mother." She warned.
"You are but that doesn't mean you can pick my love interest." With that said I walked outside waiting for Devour. He had barely arrived and my mother walked out too. I got in his car, "wow Mia you look pretty." He said. "Thank you." I said and then seeing my mother approach us.
"Take care of her." She said touching my shoulder. I shrugged her away slowly. "I will Ms. Elena." He said. She stepped away and watched us drive off.
"I swear your mom is so cool now." He said with a smile. "Yeah she's definitely changing." I answered truthfully. Her ways of setting me up into a relationship was crazy.
We arrived and the house was the same size as the other. There was a lot of people. Music was blasted loudly, alcohol everywhere different kind, dirty dancing and everyone seem to be having a good time so far. "Come here I want you to meet some of my homies" Devour said grabbing me by my waist. "This is my music director Marlon, this is lil action, this is Abraham, Aldrin, and my manager Jessie." I smiled at all of them. "This is one of my old friends Mia." He introduced me.
"You guys are just friends?" Lil action asked. They had weird names for each other. We both nodded. "Rightttttt!" He said making us laugh. "We are." I said to him. That's what we were going to stay as just friends.
Jessie handed me a cup and I shook my head. "I'm not up for drinking tonight." They all looked surprised. "How about you?" Jessie said to Devour. "Nah I'm not drinking either." All of his friends laughed. "She got you whooped already." I rolled my eyes at them playfully. We were not dating but they teased us like we were.
We stood a little longer talking and they were all cracking jokes making me laugh. They were really cool people. That's when all the attention was dragged in when a group of others appeared. "Your best friend is here." Lil Action said. Devour turned his head to the entrance and his face turned all serious. I took a glance and seen Marco walk in with Destiny, Andrew was there too with Maria and some more couple of familiar faces.
I wanted to know why they were not friends anymore but maybe being away there friendship vanished. That's what most likely happens. I watch carefully how Marco shook hands with others, did he really think coming to a party after being released a few days from the hospital was a good idea?
I was nervous for him to see me, I could sense some type of tension I didn't like. I watched Marco look around the house and his eyes landed on me. That's when Devour hugged my waist harder than before pulling me close to him. Marco eyes moved up to face him and he didn't look quite happy.
Marco came up to us only shrugging past me without saying a single word. I felt hurt but I manage not to show it. Maria smiled at me saying I looked pretty but walked away with Andrew. I wanted to know what he was feeling and why did he ignored me? Was it because of Destiny? Or Devour?
"I thought you guys were still friends?" Devour said starring at me. I shrugged my shoulders, "apparently not." I took a red cup and poured myself some Hennessy. Devour took the cup out of my hands, "You said you weren't drinking?"
"I changed my mind." I grasp the cup out of his hand and started to drink it all. I knew I will regret it but it was the only thing to hold my emotions. I started to feel myself loosen up after the drink. Devour was busy talking to others and I sneaked myself to pour myself another drink. I almost tripped with these heels but giggled as I reached for the bottle.
"You shouldn't be drinking." Devour took the bottle and cup away from me. I rolled my eyes at him. "Let's go somewhere quiet?" He said but I wasn't sure.
"Where?" My voice came out like a squeak.
He looks over his shoulder, tilted his head, and pulled me away from everybody. Devour took me in the back, no one was here. I crutched my nose and looked around.
"You hate this party, don't you?"He blurted out.
My face scrunched. "What? No. I'm having fun." I turn toward him. He took my hand and sat me on his laps. "Why would I hate this party?" I said directing my face toward him.
"I don't know? Because-". A huge crash interrupted him followed by many screaming cheers. We locked are eyes for a second, and then laughed. "Maybe it's not your place to hang out". He said trying to put it in nicer words that it seem I wasn't enjoying it.
"Why? What do you mean?" He gave me this look.
"Look at you, you changed and I know you have gone through a lot. I like you, I always liked you." He said while my insides went all squirmy.
"Wait, why are you telling me this now? Just to make Marco mad and use me?" I said raising my eyebrows.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa." He said with a smirk. "I didn't say that. I mean you're different, but I will never use you for my problems. I just want to show you what you're worth."
My face burned bright enough that he noticed. And just smirked at me. "Right. Um...forget I said anything." He laughed.
"No, no. There's no forgetting anything now." He inched closer to me resting one arm on back of me.
Devour looked into my eyes. His hand shifted and suddenly it was holding mine. "You are not what I expected." Whoever is? Dad wasn't. Danny wasn't. Mom wasn't, even Marco wasn't what he exactly appeared.
"I'll take that as a compliment." I said smiling at him sort of drunk.
"You should." He added, then he grazed my bottom lip with his thumb, and then he kissed me.
