Kellie drilled Mane Stage again and again. It was the Friday before Linn-Mar and the room was buzzing with excitement. Morgan was the most excited.
"I can't wait, Ash!! My first performance ever! Eeee! I am so excited I could burst!" she exclaimed as the two got water. Ashley stopped drinking and shook her head.
"Morgan calm down. We need to stay level headed over this. Although I admit- I'm excited too!!! I have never performed on stage either.. Oh what if a costume falls off of someone? What if someone falls off the stage? What if-"
"Ashley!" Morgan snapped Ashley out of her ramble. She looked at her and smiles.
"Sorry MoMo. I got carried away," Ashley said. Morgan smiled.
"It's alright Ash. We all are excited. Why don't you come over after practice tonight, you can help me pack for tomorrow, and then we have supper, and I can help you pack at your house. Trust me, I could use the help," she said. Ashley nodded.
"Sounds fun! We have to listen to the song Try and of course every song we sing in practice, so we can dance at home," she responded. Morgan laughed.
"Of course," she said. They heard the music start and rushed back into the choir room to finish practice, and Ashley quick texted her mom to not pick her up.

"Alright everyone! Arrive here at promptly 6:00 am tomorrow morning! The Side Saddlers Prep Group perform at 9:30, and we have a 40 minute bus ride. Bring pillows and blankets if you want to, because we don't perform until 4:30. So pack everything on the list I gave you yesterday, and make sure not to leave anything out. Remember snacks, deodorant, and chargers. See you all tomorrow morning!" Kellie said after practice. Everyone ran out of the room, excited for the first competition. Ashley and Morgan both met at the back of the room.
"EEE!!! It's tomorrow Morgan! Linn-Mar, can you believe it!" Ashley squealed. Morgan laughed.
"Oh Ash, come on, my mom is waiting. I am sure that my mom won't mind about our plan. She's been doing a lot for me since, you know," Morgan said. On the first day back from winter break Morgan informed Ashley on her parents's divorce, since she was unable to tell her sooner due to Ashley traveling to her grandma's house in Europe during break.
"Alright, lets go!"

"Of course, Ashley! Also, fair warning, there are boxes everywhere in our house. Morgan's father hasn't quite found a house to drop his stuff at, so it remains in boxes. Plus he won't move out until sometime after the first show choir competition. So, what do you want for supper? Pizza, tacos, or Chinese food? I'll order us something while you two are packing," Morgan's mom said as they drove home from the high school. Ashley squealed slightly.
"Tacos! My parents hate Mexican food with a passion, so I never get them at home!" Ashley said excited. Morgan laughed.
"Tacos sounds good to me too, mom," she said.
"Tacos it is! You two can start packing, I will have to drive to Taco Central to pick it up. Do you want your usual Morgan?"
"Yes!! And order Ashley the same, I am sure she will love to try Taco Central's chicken tacos!" Morgan said smiling. The two giggled as Morgan's mom pulled into their driveway. AS they all got out, Morgan ran to the door and unlocked it. The two headed right to Morgan's bedroom, and they pulled her duffel bag out of the closet.
"Okay, the list says we need: Hairspray, hair brush, bobby pins, and a curling iron for hair," Ashley read. As each item was read off, the two found it and placed it into the bag. "Okay, now for costume and clothing, nylons, comfy clothes, a daily outfit for walking around the school, comfy shoes, and extra socks if needed," Ashley continued to read. They found the items and packed them. "Okay, hygiene, deodorant, tampons, and pads if needed," she read. Morgan crinkled her nose.
"That was written and handed out by Jonathan, ew," she giggled. The thought of their male choreographer typing the list up about tampons and pads made them cringe as well as laugh.
"Okay, makeup is next, and it is long. Concealer, mascara, blush, brushes, a mirror, eye-shadow, eye-liner, bronzer, lipstick, makeup wipes, fake eyelashes, eyelash glue, eyelash curler, and all put inside a easily carried makeup bag or box. Wow, just wow," Ashley said. Morgan packed everything written.
"Okay, next?" she asked.
"Miscellaneous not all is necessary, but recommended: blankets, pillows, snacks, phone, phone charger, water bottle if wanted, money ( this is necessary!! at least $30 for breakfast (if wanted, can bring something for the bus ride if it works better), lunch and dinner), extra activities for the bus ride and sitting in the room, cards, and anything else that seems necessary to you for the journey," Ashley read. Morgan packed a blanket, her pillow pet, her wallet, and her extra phone charger, and she plugged her portable charger in.
"There! I think that is everything. My portable charger is charging, I have my laptop charging, my phone is charging, and I think that is all I need so far. I think my mom bought some crackers and a new deck of cards for competitions, they should be on the kitchen counter, come on!" Morgan said, zipping her duffel bag and walking out of her room. Ashley followed, and they grabbed a box of saltines, a deck of cards, and a can of pringles.
"I think that should do it for snacks on the bus. Will you sit by me? I'll make sure Gavin, Luke, Lilly, and Kelsey sit by us too," Morgan asked Ashley.
"Of course, MoMo! I can't not sit by my best friend!" she responded. The two giggled, and the front door opened, Morgan's mom walking in with a box of Taco Central food.
"Alright, eat up girls! You must be starving from practice, and packing. Did you get everything? Oh, I have Saltines and pringles for you, and a deck of- oh good you have them," she said, looking at the counter. She set the box on the table and they pulled out the food.
"Chicken tacos?! Yum!!" Ashley commented on the food she got. Morgan giggled as they dug in.
