The plans had been made for weeks now. David was training me on how to be his personal secondary assistant and we would be together on his tour. I'd moved everything over to his apartment so that we might share it. Everything was going so incredibly fast but I loved it and even better, my horrible ex-boyfriend was finally going on trial. In addition to the abuse charges against me and attempted assault on David, he'd also been a part of a local gang that was involved with dealing drugs in five cities!  He was going to be one of the firsts of the gang's arrests.

I had arranged David's interviews for the next two weeks before our continuation of his tour and while I was testifying. Today he would be speaking with magazines in our apartment but I was on my way to the courthouse. It was an awfully dim place. The floors were a horrid green marble and the walls were shades of uncomplimentary brown in the courtroom. The judge sat on his chair and began to go through the usual procedure of the court and began calling witnesses towards the other charges but a man walked past me, dropping a note in my lap. I didn't catch his face, it was hidden underneath his coat.

The trial was being let out for the day as I read the note. It said: "Don't even think of testifying girly. Canaries may sing but a dead one won't."

Then underneath it had two x's and a line through them both. I recognized it! It was a tattoo of my ex's. The note chilled me to the bone and since I wasn't going to get to testify in court that day, I left as soon as I could. As soon as I made it to the limo David made me ride in all the time, I I asked the driver to take me to the apartment but I found another note. This time it was stuck to the glass and it said: "Say anything in the trial and we'll kill your superstar boyfriend."

I wanted to cry or scream or something but all I could do was stare in silence at the note in sheer horror. Thankfully, we reached the apartment and I was escorted to David in a rush. I clung to the notes in my hands before meeting David inside, alone. I sent the others away and held onto him. "David, I think someone is going to try and kill me and you!"
