"Your past is always gonna bite you in the ass."

-

It was a sunny day and the sun shone so brightly, the birds were singing, everything was perfect but here I am, covered under layers and layers of sheets, so lazy to do anything. I seriously didn't want to do anything in my life at this point. I just wanted to lay here in bed and pretend that I don't exist for a while. I was so exhausted from ignoring my thoughts, I didn't want to face them but yeah I've been thinking about what Candice said lately and I don't want to even give a possibility.

Of course, my wish didn't come true as I heard the door bell ring.

I groaned as the door bell started to ring again, getting out of the warmness I was in and lazily opened the door of my apartment.

oh no

"Jady! Oh, my god!" my mom squealed excitedly, squeezing me in a real tight hug. I was surprised as dad was standing behind her with bags next to him, he smiled at me and gave me the same hug as mom.

"Uh? When did you guys come back? Why didn't you call me?" I asked as soon as I found words to say.

"We wanted to surprise you." mom said, letting herself in, dad did too.

"You sure did." I mumbled underneath my breath, closing the door.

My parents are not those typical "perfect family" you see anywhere. They are the kind of people who show you how much they love you by giving you and treating you like shit. We fight all the time they're around and I just can't handle fights in my life right now.

"So this is the apartment you've been living in this past year?" my dad asked, looking around already like he owns the place.

"Yeah, it's not much, but it's enough for me at least." I shrugged.

"Oh, Jade! There's dust all over the room how do you live here?!" mom asked, tracing her finger on the table. I rolled my eyes.

"I'm living just fine."

"Wasn't this your high school boyfriend's apartment- what was his name? Jimmy?" She asked after finally sitting down on the couch but carefully so she won't get her expansive new outfit dirty by my 'dirty couch'. My dad did the same, listening to our conversation.

"It's Jack. And no, it's not. He's not my boyfriend anymore, plus, I broke up with Jimmy years ago, mom." I almost face palmed myself.

"Oh, thank god! I never liked him anyways." she said.

"You only saw him like once or twice."

"Still."

"Yeah it's about time that you finally realized he's no good for you." dad said, agreeing with mom.

"Okay. You made your point, I suck at dating. How about we change the topic?" I raised my voice all of a sudden then it softened a little at the end, which made them share eye contacts like they were having eyes conversation but before they could say anything I decided to change the topic myself.

"So what made you come back?" I asked.

"To take you." dad replied.

"Me? Where?" I asked, confused.

"Home." mom replied, smiling. And by 'home' she meant that huge house that they left me in for months, all alone that I couldn't stand it's darkness anymore.

"Who said that I'm going back to that place?" I asked, quickly declining the offer.

"Uh, we did?" mom said in a 'duh' tone as if it was that obvious.
