The Graveyard Shift

Chapter 32

**Jenna's POV**

The news about our engagement spread like wildfire. Ryan and I were extremely happy about this new chapter in our life, but like everything we're taking it slow.

"What do you think Max?" I asked looking at my ring while cuddling with Max on our bed

Max just looked at me then ran off the bed to get some water. I adimre my ring all the time. Ryan had put so much effort into it to make it perfect.

"Jenna!!" Ryan yelled from the bathroom where he was shaving after his shower

"Yes?" I asked entering the room

"I cut myself"

I quickly got a towel to catch the blood that was on his face.

"I don't know what you would do without me" I said giggling

"Proabably just have blood all over" he said chuckling

"True"

I finished cleaning up the bathroom and then Ryan and I went downstairs and sat on the couch

"It's too quiet around here" I said

"I know, maybe we should get Max a friend" Ryan suggested

"You wanna get another dog?" I asked

"Sure, I wouldn't mind that"

"We should get a rescue. That's what Max was. Zoey saved him"

"That's a great idea. You wanna go look for one now or?"

"Yes! Then we can come get Max and take them to the pet store to buy beds and toys!" I said happily

"I knew we'd end up going shopping some way or another"

Ryan and I quickly got ready and left. When we arrived I heard all the dogs crying and barking from the cages. I would take them all home if they'd let me.

I saw a German Shepard almost the same color as Max. He looked so lonely and scared.

"I want him" I told Ryan

"Lets go look at him" Ryan said

One of the workers allowed us to take the dog to a separate room

"He isn't very friendly. He's had a rough life" the girl said

"Does he have a name?"

"Not to my knowledge" she said then left Ryan and I alone with the dog

I got on my knees and put my hand out, but he wouldn't leave the corner.

"Come here, buddy" I said slowly moving closer

After he sniffed my hand he barried his head in my shirt. I spent a while just petting him and holding him. Eventually, Ryan joined us.

"I think we found him" Ryan said smiling

We took him to our truck after we got all his paper work done.

"Lets name him" I told Ryan

"Hmm, how about Oliver?" Ryan said

"Yes! Do you like that name?" I asked Oliver

He just wagged his tail

"I'll take that as a yes. Let's go meet your brother!" I said as Oliver jumped into the truck

"Thanks for him" I said petting Oliver

"You're welcome baby. I kinda thought you'd want more company while I was away"

Life is great right now. I don't know how life could get better
