MAINE
We Ain't Nowhere Near Over.Today was extremely hot!! Considering it was early fall the weather was being good to us.
Today being men's day we decided to have a barbecue at Tyrone's house. Even though Nayah and I weren't together they still took me in as family. My kids were half of them. Plus we were still business partners. When I arrived at the house with my brothers, the rest were already in the back starting up the fire for the barbecue and there were drinks and kush on deck."My brother from another." Antwan came towards me and dapped me.
You would have never thought he hated me to begin with. Now I talk to him the most.
"Waddup Twan." I greeted him.
"Ain't a thing dawg." I saluted everyone else and we just kicked back, poured a drink and lit up a joint.
"So what's the topic today then boys" Tyrone asked.
"Women" we all said at the same time and laughed.
"When ain't that the topic?" Tyrone said laughing. "Ite, Ite, in order. Youngest first. Kyle."
"Maaaan I don't got none of that drama y'all be havin'. I just fuck and duck." We all laughed.
It was easy for him to be so free and wild. Oh how I missed those days.
"Ite. D'jon?"
"I got hella ladies on my case. I got me a lil lady but she tryna move way too fast. She needs to slow her roll or ima end up letting her go." D'jon said.
"Make sure you don't do what I do. If there's anything I can tell you. It's learn from my mistake." Antwan preached to him.
"Reese?"
"Everything good over here pops. Me and Layla got our honeymoon period going on forever."
I was glad to hear that. That was my little sister. As long as she happy then I ain't got no problems.
"Jayden my boy. How's fatherhood treating ya."
"Fatherhood is great pops. But MJ is spoilt. You can't put her down without her screaming her lungs off. But I love it. I'm glad I got my woman too because I don't know how single parents be doin' it because it ain't easy."
"True, true." we agreed.
"Maine my man. Talk to me."
"Man, Big T..."
"Please, Tyrone. Big T is business only. You know this."
"My bad. Tyrone. I tried with Nayah. Lord knows I did. But she's too stubborn. I've apologised how many times, given that girl so much space we might as well be at opposite ends of the world. I done told her the truth, I given her everything she wants and still she ain't tryna holla ME. So... I been doing me."
"The thing with my daughter is she's very independent..." Tyrone responded. "...She don't like to show her emotions. She could be hurting, wanting to cry but she would put a bullet through you and laugh first before she lets you see her vulnerable. What y'all need to do and I mean alla y'all is find your balls. I get it. These women of yours ain't random hoes that you would treat any kind of way or disrespect but y'all need to have that bass in yo voice when you talk to them. Women don't like being told what to do but they do like the way you try. Trust me. Try it. Don't be disrespectful, just be dominant. I bet you they soon gon change they minds."
I thought about what Tyrone said and knew he was right. I tread on eggshells with Nayah and be nothing but nice, I don't shout at her, I don't call her out her name. But that game was about to change.
