PRINCESS
I Wish Things Were Different.I had officially moved in to my new home. I was so thankful that I lived in the same neighbourhood as Tanayah.
She had taken Shannon's Grove off the market. I lived in one of the properties within the Grove. My grandma had passed away during my pregnancy which made things so difficult for me. I had to organise her funeral and I didn't want to. I was all she had left. My momma was alive, but she didn't bother coming. Rumour has it she went back to my father and he ended up putting her on the game as one of his tricks. I wasn't even surprised.
What I did know was once I buried my grandma, it would just be me and my princess. Yeah, I was having a girl. I already knew that I was going to give her my grandma's name. Ebony. It wasn't my grandmothers' real name but that's the name everyone knew her as. She never liked her real name.
Nick had been there for me consistently ever since I left him and Antwan at the dessert diner. He contacted me every day and did everything for me. He even helped and supported me during my grandma's death. Unlike Antwan. I never told him but he certainly knew, because Tan told him and all he did was ask how I was. Despite her sharing that I wasn't coping, he never contacted me.
So, as time went by, I hoped and prayed that the baby was Nick's. Nick already said he was happy to be my friend and if the baby was his, then we could try building a relationship but if the baby was Antwan's, then we could never be together. It hurt me when he said that but I had to respect his wishes.
"That's everything." Nick said as he finished up the cot in the baby's room.
"Thank you Nick. I don't know what I'd have done without you."
"No need to thank me. I told you I'd be here to help."
"I know, I know." I froze as I felt another sharp pain.
"You okay?"
"These pains are getting even worse and closer together."
"Maybe we should get you to the hospital."
"Nah I got like three, four weeks to go."
"I'd still feel safer if we got you to the hospital."
"Okay let's go." I sent the girls a text and even Antwan.
Told them it may not be anything but that Nick insisted I went. Rochelle said she wouldn't be able to make it at the moment as the nanny was out doing the grocery shopping and Tyrell had gone back to work. Tan said to tell Nick to let her know if I go into labour whilst Mica, Robin and Layla said they'd make their way.
When I got to the hospital and was about to head in, I heard someone call my name. It was Antwan.
"How cute."
"Surprised you even here" I said smartly.
We headed inside, the tension was so thick, you could cut it with a knife.
"Hello Princess. I'm going to be your midwife for today. I'm going to help deliver your baby."
"Whoa! Help? My baby ain't due yet!"
"Well your lil girl is saying otherwise. She's ready."
"No. No. I'm not ready, I'm not. Please..." I started panicking and became short of breath then everything went black.
I woke up not sure where I was. I looked around and saw a nurse standing next to an incubator. My baby? I touched my stomach. It was sore and tender but there was no big bump. What happened?
