TYRELL
Marcus

I really was glad that my pops was back. Whilst he was away I was left in charge. I don't know if it was the fact that I wasn't given a choice or if it was lack of time to prepare but I just wasn't feeling it.

On top of that I had to keep my family in check all on my own. Tanayah didn't make things easy; not that she ever does. If all that wasn't bad enough, Rochelle had walked out on me. I had to give my kids my undivided attention because that's what Roch does. I definitely took her role for granted. I thought she would be back the same day but she wasn't. I saw a month go by and I knew she was teaching me a lesson. It was a lesson well learnt. She came back once my sister had the twins.

Rochelle was due any time now and I really couldn't wait; we decided we didn't want to know the sex of the baby, we wanted to wait.
As I sat in the living room watching basketball, Rochelle came waddling in.

"Hey baby, how you feeling?" I asked.

"Like yo son is playing basketball inside of me." She said.

"Son? How you know it's a boy?"

"I done this twice before remember? I can tell the difference. It's a boy." She said as she came and sat next to me.

She then looked at me.

"Something on yo mind bae? You got extra creases on yo forehead."

I smiled. Rochelle always knew when something was wrong.

"I been thinking. I'm not sure if I wanna run the organisation after pops retires. It don't make sense. I always kept you away from that lifestyle so no one knew about my family, but what made the organisation run smoothly is the man in charge always had his woman by his side..." I saw my wife's face immediately turn into a scowl. "...Baby, I'm not saying that's what I want. What I'm saying is, it comes with the territory. So that being said, I just be considering if I really wanna do this."

"At the end of the day I married you knowing the life you lived. I never wanted to be a part of that and you never wanted me to either. That's why we work, baby. So now you almost at the top, if you decide to walk away you know you gon have to answer to one of yo brothers? I just don't want you regretting it." Roch replied.

"Gimmie a few more years and we could retire for life. The thing is, when you reach the top unless you get killed or yo ass end up in jail, you gotta go on for at least ten mo' years. I don't wanna do that... I may not be as lucky as my pops."

"Well, I'm with you whatever you do, because I luh you baby." She said, then kissed me. She suddenly stopped.

"Shit!" she said.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"My waters...they broke."

"Oh shit! Where's your stuff? C'mon lets go." I said, starting to get myself worked up.

"Baby no." she said calmly.

"What? What you mean no?"

"Home birth. I'm having a home birth. The fridge...call the number on the fridge, tell 'em I'm going into labour."

She was so calm and just focusing on her breathing.

Home birth?

I couldn't even argue. I just wanted to know why the heck I didn't know about this. I called the number and the woman said she was on her way, I contacted the rest of the family and they all said they would make their way.

I was so glad the nanny was here. She would keep the kids in their room until this was all over. An hour later and my son was born.

"I told you it was a boy." Roch said.

She was looking tired.

"Yeah you did..." I said as I held my son and kissed her. "We never decided on a name for this one." I said. Unlike TJ and Chelle when we had known the sex before they were born.

"Marcus." Rochelle said without taking her eyes off him.

I smiled. That was my pops' middle name and mine.

"I like that." I said.

"Can we see our little brother now, mommy and daddy? Please!!!" Chelle said bursting in and climbing on the bed.

TJ walked in after her.

"Another boy is cool. Can't take another sister. Chelle is annoying." TJ said.

"Shut up, ugly." Chelle cursed.

"Hey, hey, hey. None of that. You ain't annoying Chelle and you ain't ugly TJ. Come and meet your little baby Brother Marcus." Rochelle said to them.

The doorbell rang. It was the family with balloons, presents and flowers. I let them in. I loved the bond that we had. No matter what, we all had each other's back. I took a back seat from the business for a while and spent time with my family. All of this confirmed it for me that I didn't want to take over anymore. I had to have a serious conversation with my pops.
