RACQUEL
I Never Saw It Coming.

I couldn't wait for my daughter to be born, I was having the worst pregnancy ever. After Malachi kicked me out, I had never felt so alone. He didn't call or message me; nothing. All he wanted was to know once the baby was born so he could take the test. I knew not to bother with Maine either. Nevertheless I sent them both a letter to let them know I was not going to be doing this without their help whether they liked me or not. Whoever was the father would have to pay up!

Until then I had to make ends meet. It was okay whilst I was still working, I could keep busy. But now that I was on maternity leave, I was bored and lonely. Diamond still wasn't answering my calls. I had no man. Just me and these four walls.

It was eleven at night and I decided in my heavily pregnant state to go to Diamond's work place. I needed to know what her problem was. I wanted her to be my child's godparent but now I wasn't so sure. I stood by and waited from a distance because I remembered this was that bitch's mother's strip club. It's like that whole family was rich.

I saw Diamond, as she headed for her car, I parked my car in front of hers and got out. I waddled in her direction, she didn't even realise it was me.

"If I didn't know any better I would say you been tryna avoid me." I said with my hand on my hip.

"Look at you. You ready to pop. I wish we could talk but we can't..." She went to move around me but I stopped her.

"Whaddya mean we can't?" I asked.

"Look...when I left to become an exotic dancer things went bad for me. Real bad. Tammy strip club ain't just no strip club; she targets specific girls. Girls who been through violence, abuse, sex trafficking, prostitution, the list goes on. She turns their life around. She gives 'em money, a home, security and a job. I know it's a strip club but it's home for me. No one can hurt you under their care. I got a call couple months ago from Tammy's eldest son saying if I wanted to keep this lifestyle anymore then I'ma need to stop hanging around and talking to you. I'm sorry baby girl, but you can't provide me with what they do. I dunno what you did to piss them off but you need to fix it. That family do not play. This liquor store we standing outside of, they own it. This is why it's not ideal for us to be talking. I'm sorry babe."

She held my stomach, congratulated me and wished me luck. I got back in my car and I was heated.

What the hell was their problem?

They done let the bitch take my man, then they took my sister, as well as money that should rightfully be mine. I drove home and laid down to rest. I wanted to give birth quick. I had to be in the right condition so I could kill Tanayah. She got away last time. Not this time.

I woke up in a sweat. I dreamt that Robin had shot me. I needed to see her. I needed to apologise. I missed my baby sister. She was going to be an aunt. I had to tell her. I decided to go and see her. I drove down to where my uncle used to work and prayed I'd find her there. I didn't know of any other location for her.

I walked in and asked for Robin Evans, the woman at the desk said she was in a meeting. I told her I would wait. It was a long wait, I started having second thoughts but as I got up to walk out; her door opened and she was showing her clients out. We locked eyes. Once she said her goodbyes, she walked over to me.

"What the HELL are you doing here?" she asked me.

"I just wanted to apologise and let you know you gon be an aunty." I said.

She walked to her office door, she turned and ushered for me to come in.

"Nice office." I said to her, she was doing well for herself. I couldn't hide my jealousy.
