IT TOOK A SINGLE flashing, throbbing moment for everything to perish. In a heartbeat, everything disappeared. The thundering music did nothing to dull the pain that Jimin had been enduring for a long, two nights. If anything, it enhanced it. He felt inferior, used, irrelevant, and for Jimin, who had only even been loved, this was an entirely new world.
But what fucked him up the most was the realization that nobody could make another person feel such a way without consent. He had set himself up for chaos.
And so he tried to down his self-hatred with the next bottle of alcohol, unsuccessfully. He wished he could just pass out, have a moment of calm amidst the disarray. Proper sleep was foreign to him these days.
"Jimin-ah, that's enough drinking." Yoongi grabbed the bottle that he was gripping loosely in his hands. His tone wasn't as assertive as always. Instead it was soft and pitiful.
Jimin did not reply. His eyes were focused on the ceiling lights. Sometimes, he mistook those very lights for the light from beyond. The were the moments where he had ingested too much unknown substances for his own good and the thoughts brought him serenity which terrified him.
"This is getting out of hand." The voice of his best friend brought him out of his reverie.
Yoongi had not left his side ever since he found him laying on the bathroom floor with a spilled bottle of pills beside him and tears flowing freely down his sunken cheeks. He had cleaned him up and fed him before comforting the boy who was sobbing into his shoulder.
"Sh- She's gone. She left me."
An indescribable feeling washed over Yoongi; an amalgam of consternation and pain. The emotion heightened as Jimin's cried began to fill the void in the room, the despair in his voice crystal clear. Now, he doubted that his best friend was ever going to be that bright, childish person ever again.
With a sigh, he wrapped an arm around the younger boy, lifting him onto the couch before making him turn so that he was facing Yoongi.
"Listen to me. You're destroying yourself, can't you see? You have a future. You're putting your life to waste and for what? For a girl that couldn't stick around. You have to stand for something, Jimin, or you'll fall for anything."
It was the first time that Yoongi had spoken to Jimin like that, so truthfully and without sugarcoating. He regretted his words slightly when he saw the tears forming at the corner of his eyes drop down. The tears turned loud and violent until his throat hurt from the lack of breath.
"Fuck-" Jimin swore.
"Everything hurts. Everything hurts so fucking much." In between cries, he managed to spit the words out. His head dropped to Yoongi's shoulders and he felt his arms go around his crumbled figure. "I just want to leave." He whimpered.
"You can't ever escape getting hurt, Jimin. You're always going to get hurt and fucked over. You just have to find that person that you're willing to suffer that hurt for."
