HOSEOK TRIED TO BE as carefree as he made himself seem. But the truth was, there was always a nagging feeling of self-doubt pricking at him constantly. He wondered whether he deserved all this far more times than he'd given credit for. Sitting alone in his car, with his head in his hands, he looks back at all the times where he should have done more. It's terrible, feeling like you're not good enough.

He bites his lip as he presses his body against the door, trying to hear the conversation beyond the barrier. The uncertainty and insecurity bubbling within him as he hears your comforting voice talking to your ex, blind to the fact that he was listening. The words were loud enough to reach him.

"I get it. I shouldn't have broken up with you. Just give me one more chance." He hears a voice plead, and surpasses the urge to break down the door. He awaits your response, instead, feeling anxious.

"He can't give you anything." That halts him. The words that he's repeated over and over in his head was finally being spoken, by another man towards the person that he is in love with.

"You're making a mistake by being with him. And you're going to be making another mistake if you choose him over me." Hoseok swallows roughly, listening more intently to her reply. He's ready for the worst, at least, he thinks he is.

"If you really want to know about mistakes, then you should ask your parents, you twat." Is the fiery reply of his girlfriend. His eyes widen in shock at her answer, barely stopping the giggle that almost left his mouth.

He hears footsteps before the satisfying voice fills his ears again. "The only mistake I made was deciding to date you. Seriously, I beat myself up about it every day. Your voice? I almost went deaf from hearing it." He has to slap a hand over his mouth to keep himself from laughing out loud.

"Don't even bother talking, you embarrass yourself every time you open your mouth."

Hoseok, now with a large grin plastered on his face, decides to enter the room confidently. When she sees him, a similar smile takes over her mouth. The twinkle in his eyes tells her that he heard everything.

"You ready to go, babe?" He purposefully adds the pet name, stressing it out.

She nods up at him brightly before beginning to make her way to the door. Before he could follow, her ex had grabbed onto his shoulder preventing him from walking away.

The confidence is buzzing through his veins so he moves to grab the hand twisting it around in front of him, prompting a yelp from the man in front of him. The sound alone is enough to make a smirk rise on his features, settling comfortably upon his features. As if he was born with bravado.

"Don't touch what you can't afford."
