"I THINK I ACCIDENTALLY called you my girlfriend."
"That sounds grea-" She looks over the work that she's completing on the kitchen island with food boiling behind her. This wasn't the usual response to her how was your day?
"What did you say?"
She hadn't been expecting this. She had been expecting a tired Hoseok, having just practiced for hours on end. She was expecting a clingy Hoseok that complained about getting to see his girlfriend less between the chaos that was his schedule.
Hopping off the island, she headed towards her boyfriend who was staring at her nearing with innocent eyes.
"I called you my girlfriend." The truth was, he wasn't the least bit regretting what he did. In fact, he was proud and filled with delight that soon, the whole world would know that he was in a relationship with the most beautiful woman that he had set his eyes on.
"I don't- Hoseok-" She struggles with words as worry lines her face. How she's feeling is justified. He could sense the disapproval on her tone as soon as she began speaking. It was for the right reasons, he knew that.
Sheepishly, he begins to excuse himself. "Well you are my girlfriend." When the two of them began dating, they knew that keeping it a secret from the public was important. The nature of his job prevented them from going out on outside dates, instead opting to stay at home. She didn't love those dates any less, but she did wish at times that she could show her boyfriend off.
"Stop worrying. The boys knew already." It eased her worry but the feeling of dread still remained. What would other people think?
"Wait! So you weren't together before? What the hell?" A laugh bubbles out of her lips as she recognizes the over exaggerated tone of Jimin that Hoseok was trying to pull off. At the sound, Hoseok relaxes slightly.
"What about the others?" She walks to the front of the stove, stirring the liquid before closing it to let it simmer.
There was a moment of silence between them.
"They'll hate you."
She whips around, a scowl on her face as she sees the barely concealed grin on his face. He grabs her wrist as she smacks his shoulder, pulling her closer before circling his arms around her small waist.
"It's the truth. There's always going to be people that don't like you for no reason. That's how it's going to be." His voice is gentle, calming, but she can sense the aching behind it. She brings her arms around his neck in an attempt to comfort him.
When she looks at him, he is stripped off his facade, facing her with a raw vulnerability that was only visible to her.
"None of that will matter, because there's going to be people that love you. They're going to love you so much that you'll doubt that you even deserve it." A small smile curves his face, searching her face for something that she couldn't exactly pinpoint.
"Hoseok, you're being weirdly serious. It's starting to unnerve me." She narrows her eyes at his words and he has to bite his lip to keep his amusement at bay. Sometimes, at times like these, she could never really tell whether he was being serious or not.
"They're going to love you. How could anybody not?"
"Good. I don't have any death wishes." She mused before pressing her lips to his, searching for the warmth that only he could provide.
