Roman had been walking for a while now, and he still knew he hadn't gotten very far. He had run into more dead ends than he could count. He sighed, pausing for a moment. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration, closing his eyes and taking a moment to breathe.
When he opened his eyes he was startled by something standing in front of him. It was some kind of animal, it seemed; it was much bigger than Roman was, and it was slowly approaching him, bearing its teeth and snarling.
Roman stared back at the creature, slowly backing away from it as it followed, hand on the hilt of his sword. It moved faster as his arm moved, and Roman knew that once he pulled his sword from the sheath it would be in him immediately. He scanned the area around them-the space between the walls was just wide enough for him to get by the creature.
He carefully planned out his next actions, unsheathing his sword and rolling underneath the creature as it lunged at him. He quickly rose to his feet, waiting for it to turn to him. Once it did, he jumped at it with his sword, stabbing it. The beast cried out as it came crashing down, Roman narrowly avoiding being crushed.
Roman let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding, putting his sword back and stepping away from the beast. He had never seen anything like it.
He was about to walk away when a loud scream cut through the silence, Roman jumping in surprise. It sounded close by. Roman wondered what it was, beginning to slowly walk in the direction he had heard it in, when he remembered.
Anxiety.
Roman's eyes widened, and he broke into a run, racing in the direction of the sound. It took him a while, running into dead ends and having to turn back and find the way again, but he eventually stumbled upon another giant creature just like the last one, facing something in front of it. Roman couldn't see what exactly, but he could take a guess.
The creature was just about to jump at the thing in front of it, when Roman slashed at its back. The creature wailed, turning quickly to face him, Roman doing the same as he had with the last one, stabbing it as it turned. With the creature dead, Roman moved past it, finding Anxiety curled into a ball in the corner. His head was covered, and he jumped when Roman touched his shoulder.
He looked up, cheeks streaked with tears, shaking under Roman. He seemed to relax slightly when he realized it was only him, but his tears didn't stop, and he still shook in fear. Roman was surprised when the trait suddenly grasped onto him tightly,
hiding his face in Roman's chest. He let out a sob, and Roman frowned, holding Anxiety back tightly."It's okay," Roman assured. "I'm right here. You're alive, and you're safe. It's okay." He rubbed Anxiety's back comfortingly, the other saying nothing but leaning into Roman more.
They sat this way for a while, waiting for Anxiety to calm himself down, Roman watching for any more creatures, as well as getting lost in his thoughts. They needed to follow what Fairy God Mother had told them, and stick together. It was their one hope at making it out of this place alive. They could both make it, if they worked together.
"I'm sorry." Anxiety sniffled, breaking the silence. He still didn't move from Roman's grasp. "I-I thought I was dead for sure. It cornered me and I-I-"
"It's alright." Roman assured once more, squeezing Anxiety tighter. "You're alive. Nothing hurt you."
"Thank you." Anxiety whispered as he pulled back. He wiped at his eyes, and tried to look like his usual non-caring self. "Now... we should probably find a way out of here, right? Unless.. you're just gonna leave me here again." He glanced away from Roman, hiding his pained expression. He truly believed Roman would leave him.
"I was actually about to say," Roman stood slowly, holding a hand out for Anxiety to take. "We should really start sticking together. That's our best shot at getting out of here."
Anxiety looked up at him in astonishment, slowly accepting Roman's hand and allowing himself to be pulled to his feet. His expression turned neutral, an attempt to shield himself away, and he nodded. "You're right." He muttered.
"Now.. we should probably start walking." Roman chuckled, turning to walk in the opposite direction. Anxiety watched for a moment, thinking.
"Hey, wait!" He called out. Roman stopped and faced him. "Those.. things. They seemed to know there way around this place. If we found one again.. it's possible we could follow it out." He suggested, shrugging.
"That's... a very good idea, Anxiety." He grinned. "We'll need to be careful, though. Don't want to get caught."

It took a while of wandering, but eventually they stumbled across another creature. They quickly ducked into cover, being sure the creature hadn't noticed them. It didn't seem to, instead carrying on walking through the maze. The two were very careful as they followed behind it, being as quiet as possible, and being sure to stay hidden. Especially when even more of them showed up.
The two walked until their legs felt like jelly, their sides ached, and they were drenched in sweat. Both of them felt ready to collapse, barely managing to keep up with the creature that seemed to never tire out.
Just when the two thought they could bare it no more, the creature walked out into a clearing.
The end of the maze.
"We made it." Roman breathed, feeling relieved.
"Not yet." Anxiety mentioned. "We still have to make sure that thing doesn't see us when we get out of here."
"It hasn't noticed us this entire time, I think we can sneak past it once more." Roman shrugged, drawing his sword just in case. He began moving forward, and while Anxiety felt terrified, he followed after him.
Roman peered around the wall, looking for any sign of the creature nearby. It's back was turned, walking straight ahead of them. "It's okay, it's leaving. We can get past easy."
The two stuck close to the wall once outside of the maze, watching the creature. They made it out of the small clearing, once again under the cover of trees. Once they were sure they were safe, the pair collapsed.
Yo. So I've decided against updating daily as I realized I have to go to Florida very soon and won't have much time to write or anything. I'll still update at the same times as I do now and I'll try to get a bunch written ahead of time so I can upload as usual but just a warning I also may not be on wattpad much or at all while there.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Thank you for reading. Bye!-Bob
