Once they were sure they were safe, the pair collapsed.

They were too tired to move any further that day, and silently agreed to get some rest for a while. The forest was always dark, so it was difficult to tell if it was night or day, but it didn't matter to them what the time was.

The only sound was the occasional crickets chirping, frogs croaking, and the two's heavy breathing. Roman had just closed his eyes, and was ready to drift off, when Anxiety spoke up.

"Hey, Roman?" He asked, turning to look at him. Roman opened his eyes and looked back at him. "Thanks. Again..." He mumbled, and Roman smiled.

"It's no problem, Anxiety. I won't just let you die out here." He pledged. Anxiety shrugged, acknowledging Roman, but still not quite believing his words to be true.

It was silent for a moment, both of them lost in thought. Anxiety was once again the one to break that silence.

"Do you think... we'll make it out of here?" He whispered, scared. He didn't look at Roman, even as the other looked at him in concern. He stared at the treetops, trying to hide his distress. Roman nudged him with his shoulder.

"Hey, it'll be fine. We can do it." He looked up at the trees with Anxiety, a grin on his face. "It may be dangerous, but it's nothing we can't get through. Trust me, I've been on adventures more dangerous plenty of times. I can handle this."

Anxiety grumbled something under his breath, Roman was able to hear his name and the word 'arrogance'. Prince nudged his arm again, more harshly this time.

"Hey! I was trying to comfort you." He huffed.

"Comfort me by fueling your own ego? Real helpful there, Princey." Anxiety rolled his eyes.

"I-" Roman was fully prepared to start arguing with the other trait once more, but stopped himself with a sigh.

"We need to get some rest." He settled on saying, turning on his side, away from Anxiety. "We don't know what will happen tomorrow, but we should try and at least be well rested." He heard Anxiety shifting around behind him, and assumed he had turned away just as Roman had.

"I know we can get out of here, Anxiety." Roman said one more time before he drifted off. "Both of us. We just need to put our differences aside."

It was silent behind him, and he assumed Anxiety had already fallen asleep. He closed his eyes, and let himself be taken by sleep.

Anxiety stayed up for a while, looking around the place, his mind racing. He still wasn't sure whether he could believe Roman; the two never got along, and he surely hated Anxiety. What reason did he have for helping him get out of there? Other than his own pride, being able to tell the others how he escaped, and telling the story with Anxiety being his 'damsel in distress'. Anxiety rolled his eyes at the thought.

Other than that, he was terrified of being out here even with Roman. He felt as if any moment, something might jump out at them. He was looking around frantically, as if the moment he stopped checking something might actually be there. His eyes wanted to shut, but he fought against them. He couldn't sleep, he couldn't. He wasn't safe.

His eyes closed anyways. He shifted, moving closer to Roman, their backs pressed against each other. He couldn't fight sleep any longer.
