Another night had passed(at least, they assumed so, as it was still too dark to tell), and the two had decided to stay in place for a while longer. Roman's injury still kept him from moving around too much, and they were still safe where they were at, so there wasn't any reason to push him. They both worried that they would run into danger along the way, and didn't want his injuries to get worse. They got lucky with it not being broken, and weren't going to push that luck.
Anxiety had set up a fire for them, with advice from Roman. The two of them were sitting around it now.
"You made that way more complicated than it needed to be." Anxiety complained, and Roman shrugged.
"I was trying. Fun to mess with you." He chuckled, and Anxiety frowned.
"Of course you were." He shoved Roman playfully. The other winced, and Anxiety immediately felt guilty. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, are you okay?" He rushed out. He had ruined everything, he was sure of it, Roman would surely be angry now.
"It's fine, Anxiety. I am fine." He assured, giving him a small smile, shifting to lay on his side. Anxiety still looked worried, but realized Roman wasn't mad at him. He mentally scolded himself for almost panicking over nothing. He smiled back slightly, to hide his worry.
After a moment Roman's smile fell, and he sighed. He looked scared.
"Do you..." He paused, looking away and nervously fiddling with his sleeves. Anxiety waited for him to speak fearfully, not knowing what to expect.
"What if we never make it out of here?" He asked. Anxiety was taken back by the unexpected and pessimistic question. Roman was worried too? How was that possible? He had said it himself, Roman had made it out of situations like this plenty of times. This shouldn't be any different.
"Well..." Anxiety decided to share his honest thoughts, carefully choosing his words. "In all honesty, I think it might be better for Thomas, and everyone, if I didn't make it back." He shrugged, not looking at Roman even as he could feel the royal's eyes on him.
He sighed, finally looking up after a minute of silence.
"But I'm almost positive you'll make it." He told Roman, and he really did believe it. "I mean... You actually know what you're doing. You're braver than I am, and know how to handle situations I couldn't even imagine getting into. You're going to make it back. If I were you, I wouldn't worry."
Roman took a while, after listening to Anxiety talk, taking in what he said. Some time had passed when he finally responded.
"Thanks," he mumbled. "I appreciate you telling me that... But Anxiety?" He looked up at him, frowning. Anxiety looked back at him curiously.
"You're more important than you think." He smiled sadly, looking guilty. "I know we don't get along too often, especially before all this started, but we all need you. If anything happened and you didn't make it back, we... I, would miss you."
Anxiety took a moment to think over what Roman said, cheeks a pale pink. He was just about to respond, looking back at Roman only to find that he had once again fallen asleep. Anxiety sighed, a small smile on his lips as he looked at the sleeping royal. He hated to admit it, but he was starting to enjoy the annoying prince's presence.
Okay so I actually could not remember for a few minutes if today was Tuesday or not, it genuinely took me a while to remember. I was pretty sure, but then I also wasn't sure at all, I'm a moron oh well. Anyways I actually meant to update yesterday, cause I've decided to start updating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays instead of just Tuesday and Friday. I have a lot I need to do once I complete this story and I'm trying to get to it as fast as possible since I'm excited, so I'm gonna attempt to finish writing this possibly this week or the next. Probably the next since I have drivers ed all week and not much time but, that's my plan.
So yay for more updates! I'll update again tomorrow, and now I'm gonna go probably work on this while I talk with friends or something, idk. Bye!-Bob
