Attack

Anxiety gaped at the now empty space in front of him. That idiot had just left him alone, with a sword, expecting him to fight? Anxiety wasn't sure what exactly Roman expected. Anxiety couldn't fight. He always screwed things up, he was sure to mess this up too.

Anxiety was brought back to reality by a shout, stepping out from his cover and finding Roman barely avoiding one of the spiders. He looked back at Anxiety, swinging an imaginary sword as a way of telling Anxiety to 'stop standing there and help me out!' Anxiety looked at the sword in his hands, taking a deep breath and preparing himself. He didn't have a choice at this point, Roman had saved him before, and now he had to return that favor.

He did his best to remember the little that Roman had told him, being sure that he wouldn't lose his balance. He could get them both killed if he tripped over his own feet before even being able to get to the spiders attacking them. While Roman kept all three of them distracted, Anxiety carefully made his way behind the closest one to him, ready to attack it. Just as he was ready to swing at it, it took a step back, knocking him to the ground. He lost his grip on the sword, and was going to look for it, but the spider had turned on him now. Anxiety tried his best to back away from it, crawling, but it was faster than he was. He wouldn't make it out of this one.

That is, if he didn't have Roman. The prince quickly shouted, kicking the spiders long leg, making it stop and turn to face him. Before Roman could start running again, it hit him full force with the same leg he had just kicked, sending him flying back. He slammed into a tree trunk with a grunt, falling to the ground and not moving. The spiders all began to advance on him, but by this time Anxiety had retrieved Roman's sword.

He would not die out here.

He managed to kill the first one; the one that had knocked him back, and also the same one that had just injured Roman. It fell to the ground, no longer moving.

He would not be left behind.

Anxiety cried out in frustration, swinging the sword blindly. It got caught on the spider's leg, and it was turning now to face him. Anxiety pulled his sword back, and swung it again, this time ending the second spider's life.

He would not let Roman die.

The last one was right on Roman by now, and Anxiety screamed again, rushing forward and swinging at the last one. His hands were shaking, and it took him more time to kill it, but at last it collapsed. Anxiety drew in a shaky breath, dropping the sword and sliding to his knees next to Roman and shaking him. "Get up, get up, we have to move. We can't stay here, and you have to get up." He finally noticed the tears on his cheeks. He had started crying after Roman was knocked back, and he hadn't even realized. He wiped at his eyes, and shook Roman again. "Get up!"

Roman opened his eyes now, and Anxiety had never been more relieved to see the annoying royal alive before. "Come on, Roman, we need to leave."

He helped Roman to stand, and arm slung over his shoulder, his own arm around Roman's waist to support him. He helped him to limp along, both of them walking until Roman complained that he couldn't go any farther. For a while Anxiety still pushed him, wanting to get far away from where they had almost died, but when Roman protested again, and pulled himself away from Anxiety he finally realized how bad he looked. Roman had fallen in his attempt to get Anxiety to let go, and couldn't get up. He wouldn't even look up at Anxiety.

Anxiety wasn't in much better shape himself. His sides burned, his chest hurt, and there were still tears in his eyes. He wiped at them again, and the next thing he knew he was on the ground in front of Roman, on his knees. He was gasping for breath. Roman pulled him into a hug, both of them terrified and exhausted. Roman tried his best to comfort Anxiety, letting him know that he did well, that he saved them.

No matter what Roman said though, Anxiety knew he had failed. He messed up, and now Roman was injured, and he had made their chances of escaping slimmer. He couldn't fight Roman's embrace, however, and soon fell limp against him. He had passed out. Roman continued to hold onto him for some time, before sleep took him, too.

Well this is late, my apologies. I've been at the pool all day and actually forgot it was Friday, somehow. Hope you all have had a nice day. Bye!-Bob
