Brian wasn't a sissy when it came to pain but fuck that had hurt! The entire ride back to Natalie's condo had him sitting sideways in the seat with a bag of ice to his hip where they had drilled a needle down into his bone. Natalie hit a bump and looked over at him apologetically "I'm sorry Brian...this road is horrible. I should have taken the other way home...I wasn't even thinking..." Brian just shook his head and smiled at her "It's totally okay Nat, relax. I'll live" he teased with a wink, enjoying the fact that her cheeks flushed pink.

Before long they were back in her condo, Bryleigh laying down for a late afternoon nap while Natalie tried to make Brian comfortable on the couch. "Can I get you anything?" she asked gently, twisting a strand of hair around her finger. "Yea...come here a minute" he stated quietly, patting  the cushion next to him. As soon as Natalie was seated next to him he pulled her close and kissed her temple. "I swear I'm really not a pussy" he laughed lightly, rubbing her upper arm in a friendly manner. "I never once thought that of you" she murmured softly, looking up at him with her piercing blue eyes "And just so you know...I cried and carried on like they cut my arm off." Her soft laughter had him pulling her closer and before he knew what he was doing, they were kissing. Her lips fit perfectly with his, her tongue was soft and somehow tasted like honey to him as he slowly explored her mouth again and again. They sat there on that couch making out like scared teenagers for god only knows how long when a knock at the door startled them both.

Natalie's face was flushed with something he hoped was a good reaction but he scowled at the door, who the fuck was interrupting them?! Brian watched as she hurried over to the door, peering through the peep hole before looking over at Brian with a weird expression. "What's wrong?" he asked, attempting to readjust himself inconspicuously. Natalie pulled open the door to reveal Matt standing there with a smile on his face. "Hey stranger" he stated to Natalie "Is Brian here?" Natalie nodded her head silently, standing back to allow him entrance into her condo. Brian had given him the address via text just in case he needed to get ahold of him but he couldn't for the love of god figure out what Matt would need him for and he felt a little irked by the fact that he had showed up. "Umm...what are you doing here dude?" Brian tried to keep his voice neutral but he knew he sounded irritated.

"I just came by for moral support and to see how you were getting along. Is he behaving himself?" Matt turned his attention to Natalie, joking as he jabbed his finger in Brian's direction before plopping down on the couch next to him. Natalie smiled and nodded her head, her cheeks flushing pink once again. "He's been a tremendous help actually" she stated softly, her eyes on Brian alone. Matt noticed the looks between the two of them and smirked, seems an old flame was slowly igniting between the man whore that was his best friend and this seemingly shy little woman. Brian was about to ask him what his real reasoning was for appearing here when Natalie's front door open and none other than Ava stepped in, a shopping bag and some flowers in hand. "How's my princess do-" she started to chirp happily...that is until her eyes landed on Matt and she stopped dead in her tracks. "Oh" she gushed out, looking to Natalie for answers "I didn't realize you had company" she breathed out.

Natalie got up and took the flowers from Ava, smiling apologetically at her best friend. "Matt just got here actually...he wanted to see how things were going." "That's nice of you" Ava stated carefully, her eyes flicking to Matt before looking away. Natalie knew her best friend enough to realize she was uncomfortable and took this time to excuse them both, stating they were going to check on Bryleigh. Once in Bryleigh's room they began talking in heated whispers, trying to make sure to not wake her up. "I didn't know he was going to show up!" Natalie hissed quietly, her eyes on her daughter. "How did he even know where you live?" Natalie shrugged her shoulders and looked towards the door now "I guess Brian gave him my address in case something happened or they needed him for something...but I don't think that's why he's here."

Ava just looked at Natalie, not saying a word. "Ava...I think he came here in hopes to see you again" she whispered. Ava's eyes flicked over to her, a mixed look of apprehension and shock on her face before shaking her head "I doubt that" she whispered softly "He's just worried about Brian I'm sure." Natalie shook her head and laughed quietly, picking up her daughter who was now stirring awake. "For someone who's so damn smart you sure are clueless sometimes" Natalie teased, handing Bryleigh over to Ava before opening the door. "Shall we?"

All Ava could think about was the fact that Matt was back in her life and once again she felt conflicted. She followed Natalie back out into the living room, her mind a million miles away until she felt Bryleigh strain in her arms. "Daddy! Daddy" she whined out, her arms out towards Brian. Ava felt a twinge of jealousy as she handed over Bryleigh, next to Natalie, Ava had always been Bryleigh's favorite and now here she was being passed up for a guy. "So I was just saying to Brian that we should all go out to dinner somewhere, my treat" Matt explained, his eyes on Ava as he spoke with a hopeful smile. Ava took one look at those dimples and felt her world slip. "Thanks but I'm afraid I'll have to pass...I just remembered I have a case I need to be working on." Ava quickly hugged Natalie before waving half heartedly to the guys and rushed from the condo like the devil was after her.

"Was it something I said?" Matt asked cautiously, scratching his neck in wonder
