When I'm much too far away

It took Brian a minute to realize that Natalie had actually said 'yes' to his proposal, that she hadn't kicked him out of the room they were in but once the reality set in he couldn't help but smile. "Thank god" he mumbled hoarsely, his hand sliding up her neck in attempt to pull her in for a kiss but Natalie pushed back on his chest slightly. "I have to find out what's happening with Ava first...then we can talk about celebrating and whatnot."

Brian knew she was worried about her best friend and what was going on between her and Matt but he couldn't help but feel a tad frustrated, he wanted to work on making them right again. Sighing heavily he shook his head and handed her his phone. "Try calling her and see what's going on. I'm gonna step outside for a smoke while you're on the phone." Brian placed a gentle kiss to her temple before walking out, closing the door behind him.

Brian had every intention of heading outside to smoke but Todd came storming towards him, his face beet red and his eyes like daggers. Bring it on Brian thought to himself as he closed the distance between them fast. "I don't know what the hell is going on here but you better figure out where the hell she went and get her back here NOW!" he barked at Brian, attempting to intimidate him.

Brian felt his blood start to boil but he knew that for the sake of ruining things with Natalie he needed to keep himself in check. Mentally counting to ten he took a deep breath and glared at Todd. "First off...she's none of my concern. Ava is a big girl and if she decides to do something then more power to her. For once she's making a smart decision by not marrying your stupid, pathetic ass. Second off, I take orders from NO ONE. Especially pieces of shit like you. Third off, I suggest you call Matt if you want to know where she is." and with a maliciously evil smirk, Brian shoved past Todd hard.

By the time Brian had smoked three cigarettes he had calmed his temper down enough to re-enter the church, spying Natalie holding their daughter and talking with Myles quietly while Todd was blessedly nowhere to be found. "Daddy!" Bryleigh squealed from over Natalie's shoulder, her smile spread wide across her face as she reached her arms out towards Brian.

"Please let me know if you hear anything from Ava" Natalie stated softly to Myles, struggling to keep her daughter from climbing over her shoulders to get at Brian. Myles gave Natalie a tired smile and nodded his head. "I shall do so...as long as you do the same and let us know if she should happen to return your calls...oh and Natalie, you made a wise choice by saying 'yes.' I can tell he cares deeply for both of you." Natalie stared at Myles as he turned and walked towards Benjamin, wondering how he knew that Brian had recently proposed to her, the answer dawning on her a moment later.

Brian took Bryleigh from her and grabbed her hand gently with his free hand, kissing Bryleigh's forehead. "Let's go home huh? There's no use in sticking around here. Ava knows how to get ahold of you if it comes down to it." Natalie silently nodded her head, allowing Brian to lead her out to her car while her thoughts ran wild.

Where exactly was Ava and Matt?

What was going on between them?

Was Brian going to demand that she move to California right away?

Was she right in saying 'yes' to Brian?

Why did she feel like eating 2 Whoppers and a milkshake from Burger King right about now?

They were a few blocks from her condo when Natalie turned down a road leading into town further. "Nat where you going? Your place is back this way..." Brian looked around in confusion as Natalie pulled into a CVS parking lot. "Just stay in the car with Bryleigh, I'll be right back out."

And without further explanation she walked inside quickly, heading over to the 'family planning' section to buy a pregnancy test.
