Chapter Twenty

I looked at stingray as we sat outside in the courtyard.
My feet dangled off a ledge I was sitting on as he paced back and fourth irritated and thinking.
"Stingray.. What did Nicky mean by plan?" I asked him in a small voice as I looked up to him raising a brow.

"Just shut it for a minuet." he snapped at me as I sighed heavily and rolled my eyes.
"You know, maybe we should just not be seen together. I've been saying this for a while now." I said looking down at my feet.

"But you always come back to me." He said looking at me as I shook my head from my thoughts of him.
"No! Just stop.. Stop saying that. Stop acting like I like you too." I said glancing at him.

"But you do." He shrugged as I looked away and put my hands on my face sighing heavily with a faint blush dusting my face.

"No! I'm gonna get ready for this stupid ball. Go figure your shit out with your crew." I said and hopped down from the ledge I was sitting on and walked back into the building and ran up to my room and got stopped by Alice.

"Hey girl. Go check out the dress I got for you for tonight." She smiled at me as I looked into my room.
"Why'd you get me a new dress?" I laughed as I went into my closet and pulled out the two piece red silky dress.

My eyes widened slightly as I stared at it.
"It's gorgeous! Thank you so much Alice.. This thing must have been a fortune." I looked at her as she shrugged.
"Nah. Not that bad." She said as I smiled.

"Well thank you. I appreciate it." I smiled as she nodded.
"No problem girl. I don't even know why the warden is having another stupid dance anyway. They're so boring." She said as I shrugged.
"Well it's not so bad." I said.
"If you say so. Well go get ready. I'll meet you at the ballroom." She said and left my room.

I took a shower and did my makeup and hair; I curled it and lightly brushed out the curls then started to do a grey smokey eye, putting silver glitter in the corner of my eyes making my bright blue eyes glow.
I threw on some silver heels and sprayed perfume, then putting on some diamond jewelry.
I put in silver hoops then walked out.

I walked into the ballroom; seeing many people already in there.
There was music playing and the mistress and her girls were already here.

I was about to walk up to the warden but I stopped myself when I saw him and the mistress talking and laughing.
He was gawking over her and her get up.
She laughed and was getting pretty close to him.

My smile dropped instantly as I glared at the mistress.
I walked up to them and swooped my arm around the wardens back as I stood next to him.
"Hey." I said smiling as he glanced at me.

"Rebecca! You look amazing." He said as I smiled with pride.
"Thanks." I said as I saw his purple tux he was in.
The mistress glanced me up and down once as she shrugged.
"I'll be honest. That dress is pretty on you." She sighed.

"Thank you. Your's looks good on you too." I said noticing her pale pink dress.

"Well I'm gonna go get a drink." She said as she walked away almost looking sad?

"How come you guys were talking?" I asked as he glanced down at me.
"Oh, we were just greeting each other." He said as I shrugged it off and forced a weak smile.

"Oh okay." I said as he smiled at me.
"You don't think I like her still, do you??" He asked me with a small laugh.
Almost a nervous laugh.

"What? No. Of course not." I chortled as I looked away and I noticed stingray with his crew again.

I shook my head and looked back to the warden.

"Well alright then. Lets dance." He said holding my hand and pulling me out to the floor where everybody else was slow dancing.
