As soon as Cas and I stepped foot inside our house, we were bombarded with questions.
"Where were you? Oh my god, Dean what happened to you?! How'd you ge-"
"Woah, okay, slow down. One question at a time." I said putting my hands up. Madi took a breath and started over.
"Okay, well, where were both of you?" I looked over at Cas and he subtly shook his head.
"Not sure. I have no clue what happened. One minute I'm at my house, next thing I know, Cas is pulling me from where ever we were." I lied, hopefully she wouldn't catch on.
"...Okay." She said, furrowing her eyebrows but walking away. I turned around to say something to Cas but there was a knock at the door. He walked over and answered it, it was a cop.
"Are you Castiel Novak?" He asked. Cas nodded. "Well, your neighbor saw you take her daughter's bike and ride away on it. Care to explain?" I covered my mouth to stop my laugh from bursting out.
"Um, well, you see, my boyfriend was in trouble and he had the car and he was too far away an-"
"Listen," the cop interrupted while laughing. "Your neighbor isn't pressing charges but she does want you to apologize to her daughter and return the bike as soon as you can."
----------
I could feel my face getting red. I felt so embarrassed. I nodded quickly and followed him over to the neighbor's. I walked over to her daughter.
"I'm sorry I stole your bike but I'll get it back, I promise." I smiled as nice as I could. She smiled.
"Okay." She said but her smile disappeared as she kicked me in the shin. I covered my mouth so I wouldn't would swear in front of a child. I walked away quickly, not wanting to be there any longer. As soon as Dean saw me, he smirked.
"How's your shin?" He asked, chuckling. I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up." I said, trying not to laugh. Dean wrapped his arm around me and lead me too door. I cocked my head as I heard music coming from Madi's room. I walked over to her door and knocked.
"Whatcha listening to?" I asked. The music stopped and there was a few shuffles. She opened the door.
"What?" She asked.
"I asked what you were listening to." She smiled and turned to walk back into her room. She plucked her iPod off her stereo and walked past me to the living room.
"Hollywood Undead, I'm not sure either of you will like it but I'm willing to let you listen." She looked down and pressed 'play.' "This one is I Don't Wanna Die."
"I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die.
I don't wanna die so you're gonna have to.
I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die!
No, I don't wanna die so you're gonna have to."I smiled, they sounded pretty good. I looked at Dean and he looked confused.
"I don't get it." He said, furrowing his eyebrows. I laughed and he shot me a glare. I mouthed sorry but stopped laughing. I didn't get it either. Madi rolled her eyes.
"Well, if you listened to the whole song instead of the chorus, you'd have more of an idea. I heard it was about someone who is facing something that makes his seek for vengeance in a crazed manner. Like, maybe his wife, girlfriend, or daughter was kidnapped and the only way he could get them back is if he died. He wants to kill the person who took them hence 'I don't wanna die so you're gonna have to.' Now do you understand?"
"It makes sense now. I get it, they'd do anything to save the one they love." I looked over at Dean who was already looking at me, smiling. I felt a blush creeping up on my cheeks as I smiled back.
"Ugh, you guys are too mushy." Madi said before walking back to her room. Dean opened his arms as I walked over to sit with him on the couch. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head.
"I never fully thanked you for saving my ass earlier." Dean mumbled into my hair.
"Dean, I wasn't going to let you.." I took a deep breath. "..die. I wouldn't allow it." I felt a lump in my throat but I ignored it, I wasn't going to start crying. I lifted my head and kissed his jawline.
"Cas, don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I love you too much." After a few minutes of blissful silence, Dean spoke again. "I hate to dim the good mood but the funeral's at 3:00 today. My dad took care of everything so we wouldn't have to."
----------
I felt Cas tense. I instantly felt bad.
"You're right. we should probably get ready." He said while standing up. I felt terrible but he can't just not show up. I stood up and walked to our room so I could get something presentable. I don't think my swollen eye and busted lip will be formal. After I got dressed, I looked in the mirror. It's been a while since the last time I wore a suit. I thought back to my uncle's funeral, he was one of the greatest guys. The thought left my head as Cas walked in.
"You look nice." I mumbled. He looked so upset. He just nodded. "Hey, come here." I opened my arms and Cas practically ran into them.
"There used to be so much pain and rejection in my life before you came in and made it better. If you never came up to me in that dirty bar, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be alive. I'm beyond happy that you're going through my father's death with me. I love you beyond words, Dean." I could feel my chin trembling, this man is my entire world. Cas leaned back and I planted a small kiss to his lips and took his hand in mine.
"Trust me, all's the same for me." Cas smiled as we walked to the door where Madi was waiting for us.
"Ready to go?" She barely whispered. We both nodded as we walked outside. Even the weather indicated that is was going to be a shitty day.
