Chapter 8

I looked up and saw Shane.

"Get off me." I said as I tried to get out of his grasp

"Nope." he smirked

"I know you saw me and Lori at the CDC and I want you to know I was drunk and I didn't mean any of it." he said

"You might have been drunk but you knew what was going on the whole time." I spat

"I'm not the bad guy I don't want to hurt any of the group." he said

"I doubt that." I laughed

He pulled out a knife.

"I don't want to use this now promise me you won't tell anyone. he said with the knife against my face

"I won't." I said not standing down

"Fine." he laughed then punched me

He threw me down then walked away. I got up and ran towards the house. I walked inside and went into the room Carl's in. I sat down in the chair by his bed and fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning to find the rest of the group at the farm. We were holding a funeral service for Otis. When Shane was telling the story my dad and I looked at each other not believing what he was saying. I walked into Carl's room to see he was awake.

"Hey Carl." I said and sat down

"Oh hey." he said

"Cool hat." I said

"Yea my dad gave it to me,I'm in the being shot club now." he smiled

"I'm gonna go help find Sophia I'll be back later." I said walking out of the room.

The last few days have been okay Carl is walking around now. We've been looking for Sophia day and night.
Carl and I have gotten closer and my dad and I made up. I haven't told anyone about Shane yet.
I saw my dad walking out with a horse.

"Can I come?" I asked

"No." he sighed

"But." I was cut off to him saying

"Go do something and stay out of trouble." he snapped

"Fine." I grumbled

I walked over to Carl who was sitting on a log.

"Hey Carl." I said and sat down

"Oh hey Cher." he smiled

"What are you doing?" I asked

"Not much you?" He asked

"Same." I sighed

He picked up my hand and held it. I looked down and started blushing.

"Carl come on." his mom called

"Gotta go." he sighed

"See ya." I said and walked off

I walked around the farm for a while till I heard yelling and started yelling towards the field. I started looking at what they were doing. I saw a walker and saw it was my dad.

"Daddy!" I screamed and started running toward him.

Rick pulled a gun to his head when I heard.

"That's the second time you've pulled that thing on me." I heard

Walkers don't talk. Rick put the gun down then we heard a shot and saw my dad fall to the ground.

"No!" Rick yelled

We started carrying him to the house when I saw Andrea.

"Is he dead?" she asked

"No just grazed him." Rick said and carried him to the house.

"Did you shoot him." I spat at her

"I thought it was a walker." She said

"Well you thought wrong." I yelled at her

I walked in the tent and saw my dad stabbing the tent with an arrow.

"You're gonna let the mosquitos in." I sighed

"Well you're not bored." he said

"You have a book." I pointed out

"No pictures." he said

"I think Shane killed Otis." I said

"Same." he stated

"If he sacrificed himself Shane wouldn't have Ricks gun." I said then walked out

I was walking when I bumped into Carl.

"Hey Carl." I smiled

"Hey Cher follow me I have to show you something." he said and started walking

"Ok." I said and started following him

We came to a giant tree and Carl started to climb up.

"Hurry up Cher." he called

"Boys." I mumbled and started climbing

We found a branch and sat on it.

"Hey Cher?'' Carl asked

"What." I sighed

"Um I was wondering if um you would like to um be my um girlfriend?" he stutters then blushes

"What?" I asked

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he says again

"I heard you the first time I just wanted to hear you say it again." I say

"Will you?" he asked

"Yes." I say then jump from the tree

"I'm gonna go look for Sophia." I called

"Okay stay safe." he said then walked to the house.

I started walking around the woods for awhile then decided to go to the highway. I made my way to the highway. I started to look for Sophia around the cars when I went to the sign they rigged up for Sophia. I looked for her for about 2 hours when I decided to head back. I was just entering the woods when I heard screaming. I started running towards the highway when I saw a little girl with a walker after her. I ran up and stabbed the walker. I picked up the girl and held her.

"Shh it's alright they're gone." I said softly

She kept crying

"What's your name?" I said

"Kira." she said softly

"How old are you?" I asked

"I'm five." she whispered

She didnt say anything after that. I started looking in the car she was near and found a pink backpack and looked inside. On the tag it said "Property of Kira Faith Black."

"I'm going to take you back to my group ok." I said picking her up.
