Chapter 18

I woke up the next morning and walked outside. I started walking down to where a few of the group were working. When I got there, I heard daddy call

"Glenn! Maggie!"

Glenn walked out and was pulling up his pants. We started laughing.

"We'll be down in a minute guys!" he called

A few minutes later Glenn and Maggie came down and started helping. I went back up to the prison a little while later. I walked inside and went to my cell, I saw Carl sitting there. I sat down next to him.

"Hey." I said

"Hi." he said

Kira came in a few minutes later.

"I'm bored." she sighed

"Well what do you want to do?" I asked

"Truth or dare." she said

I looked over at Carl. We hadn't played that game since Sophia was alive.

"Sure." I said

We played for a few minutes until.

"Cherokee truth or dare?" Kira asked

"I dare you to kiss Carl." she giggled

I leaned in and kissed Carl. I pulled away.

"Boy germs." I whispered to him

He laughed. We kept playing for awhile until we decided to go downstairs.

We walked downstairs and into Hershel's cell.

"Don't push yourself." said Beth

He go up and started moving around.

"You wanna take a rest?" asked Lori

"Rest? How about we take a little stroll." he said

We walked outside, he started walking around the block.

"Alright Hershel!" Glenn yelled

He started walking around a bit more when Carl said

"You ready to race Hershel?"

"You give me a few more days than I'll take you on." Hershel said

I heard growls and turned around.

"Walkers!" yelled Carl

We started shooting the walkers.

"Get out of there. Go!" Rick yelled

I gave Kira to Beth.

"Stay with Beth alright." I said

She nodded.

"Lori in here!" I heard Maggie yell

I with them, we kept running until Lori stopped.

"The baby's coming." said Lori

We found a room and ran inside. Carl locked the door.

Maggie laid Lori down.

"I'm gonna need help you guys up for it?" Maggie asked

Lori started pushing.

"Stop something's wrong." said Maggie

Maggie hand was covered in blood.

"I'm not gonna make it." Lori whispered

"You're not fully dilated yet." Maggie said

"I know what it means and I'm not loosening my baby. You've got to cut me open." Lori said

"I can't Carol was the one who practiced this." Maggie said

"Carl has a knife." Lori said

"You won't survive." said Maggie

"My baby has to, please for all us of us please, you see my old c-section scar." Lori whispered

"I can't." Maggie cried

"You can, you have to." Lori said

"Carl, baby I don't want you to be scared ok. This is what I want, this is right. Now you take care of your daddy for me alright and your little brother or sister. You're gonna be fine. You are gonna beat this world I know you will, you are smart and you are strong, and you are so brave. And I love you.

"I love you to." cried Carl

You gotta do what's right. You promise me you'll do what's right. People always do the wrong things in this world. So if it feels wrong don't do it, alright . Don't let the world spoil you. You're so good, my sweet boy. The best thing I ever did, love you. -she looks over at me- Cherokee I've seen the way you've been taking care of Kira, and I want you to make sure my baby stays safe. And I want you to watch after my boy and my husband alright?"

I nodded.

"Maggie when this is over you have to be the one to do it ok, it can't be Rick. Goodnight love." she said

"I'm sorry." Maggie cried and cut Lori

Lori started screaming.

"You're killing her." cried Carl

"Carl give me your hand." Maggie said

"Ok I'm gonna pull the baby out." she said

I heard crying. Carl took off his jacket and have it to Maggie.

"We have to go." she said

"We can't leave her here, she'll turn." I said

"She's my mom." Carl said

Maggie and I started walking out. Then a gunshot went off. Carl walked out past us. We walked out of the cell block. The baby started crying. Rick looked over at us.

"Lori where is she?" Rick asked

We couldn't say anything.

"No no no." he started crying

He fell to the ground.
