Chapter 15

Daddy and Glenn walked in.

"Rick and Shane ain't back?" dad asked

"No." said Lori

"We heard a shot." he said

"We found Randle as a walker." he said

"He wasn't bit." said Glenn

"His neck was broke." daddy said

Everybody looked confused. They started walking outside.

"Patricia dim the lights." said Hershel

I looked outside to see a giant horde of walkers. Lori ran outside.

"Carl's gone." she said

"Are you sure." said Andrea

"He was sposed to be upstairs, I'm not leaving without my boy." she said

"We're not we're gonna look again." Carol said and they ran in the house

I ran inside the house.

"Kira!" I shouted and ran upstairs

I ran into her room and saw her grabbing her backpack. I ran over and picked her up.

"C'mon we gotta go." I said and ran downstairs

I ran outside to see the barn burning. People were driving around and killing the walkers. Hershel kept shooting walkers.

"Hershel we gotta go." Lori said

Carol grabbed my arm and started running. She shoved me forward.

"Cherokee go." she said

"No I'm not leaving you." I said

"Just go." she says and pushes me forward

I started running. I saw Maggie and Glenn. I started running towards there car. They stopped the car. I opened the door and got inside.

"Go." I said

I hugged Kira, she was crying.

"Shh it's alright now they're not gonna hurt you." I whispered

We drove for awhile until Glenn said to go back to the highway.

"What if no one made it." Maggie said crying

"Stop the car." Glenn said

The car stopped and Glenn got out.
Maggie kept crying.

"Maggie I love you it's been true for along time." he said

We drove onto the highway. Glenn stopped the car. I jumped out. I ran towards my dad. He grabbed onto me.

"You bit?" he asked checking me over

"No I'm fine daddy." I said

He let me go I ran over to Carl. He hugged me.

"Are you ok? he asked

"I'm fine." I told him

Then he did the unexpected... he kissed me. I kissed back for a few seconds until I pulled away.

"Why'd you do that?" I asked him

"It just felt like the right moment." he said

We syphoned gas out of the truck and drove off. I was riding with Maggie and Glenn. I was reading Kira a story until the car stopped. Everybody got out of the cars.

"We've been running on fumes." Rick said

"We can't all stay in one car." said Glenn

"We'll have to stay here." Rick said

"You know I found Randle right he was turned but he wasn't bit." said dad

"We're all infected." Rick said

Everybody looked at him.

"What?" my dad asked

"At the CDC Jenner told me whatever it is we all carry it." Rick said

"And you never said anything." Carol said

"It wouldn't have made a difference." Rick said

We were all huddle around the fire.

"We're not safe here." Maggie said

"There's no fuel, no food, no amo." said Hershel

We heard a crunch. I jumped.

"What was that?" Beth asked

"Could be anything could be a raccoon could be a opossum." dad said

"Could be a walker." Glenn said

"No one is going anywhere, I keeping this group together, alive. I've been doing that all along. No matter what. I didn't ask for this. I killed my best friend for you people for gods sakes." he snapped

Everybody looked scared

"You saw what he was like. How he pushed me, how he compromised us. How he threatened us. He staged the whole Randle thing. Led me out to put a bullet in my back. He gave me no choice. He was my friend but he came after me."

Carl was crying.

"My hands are clean. Maybe you people would be better off without me. Well go ahead maybe there's another place for us maybe its just another dream. Maybe I'd fool myself again. Why don't you go find out yourself.
Send me a postcard. Go on there's the door. C'mon you could do better see how far you could get. No takers fine but get one thing straight. You're staying. This isn't a democracy anymore." Rick said
