Chapter 16

We've been on the road for nine months. Just going in and out of houses not staying more than a few days. Lori was about to have the baby any day now.
We had came across an old house so the guys decided to clear it out. Rick whistled us inside. We walked inside with our bags. We were all in the living room, Carl walked in with some cans of dog food. Rick walked over and threw the cans in the fireplace.

"Guys." whispered T-Dog

We looked outside and saw walkers. We grabbed our stuff and ran outside. We got in the cars and drove away.

We stopped the cars and got out. Carl and I kept watch while the adults tried to figure out where to go.

"Hey." I said while Carl was looking around

"Hey." he said back

"While the others wash there panties let's go hunt that owl didn't exactly hit the spot." I heard my dad say

Him and Rick walked into the woods. Carl and I kept watch for a little while until dad and Rick came back.

"Get in the cars." Rick said

"Why?" asked Maggie

"We found a place." he said

Rick cut a hole through the fence. We got through the fence and started running.

"You, Maggie and Beth draw as many as you can over there. Daryl you take a tower. Cher take that tower. Carol you've become a pretty good shot you take the tower with her. Hershel and Carl you take that tower. I'll run to the gate." Rick said

"Kira you know how to use your knife, I want you to go with Beth ok." I told her

"Ok." she said and ran to Lori

I ran to the tower with Carol and started shooting as many walkers as I could. Rick was already in the field running towards the gate. Carol shot but almost hit Rick in the foot.

"Sorry!" she called

Rick shut the gate and ran into the guards tower. A few minutes later the field was cleared. We walked out of the guard tower and into the field.

"We haven't had this much space sense the farm." Carol yelled

We were all huddled around a fire. We were eating the owl my dad caught earlier.

"Just like mom used to make." Glenn said

"We could grow some seeds." said Hershel

"This is a good place to have the baby, safe." Beth said to Lori

"Beth sing Patty Rylie for me, I haven't heard that song since your mother was alive." said Hershel

"Daddy not that one please." sighed Maggie

"How bout Parting Glass?" he asked

"No one wants to hear." said Beth

"Why not?" asked Glenn

"Okay." she sighed

She started singing. Rick came over from the fences. Maggie then started singing. I looked over at Carl and saw Rick trying to give Lori the food. Lori finally took some. They stopped singing a little while later. I looked down to see Kira was asleep.

"We better turn in we've got a big night tomorrow."Rick said

"What do you mean?" asked Glenn

"I know we're all exhausted. This was a great win. But we got to push a little bit more. Most of the walkers were dressed as prisoners and guards. Looks like this place fell pretty early could mean the supplies are in tacked. They have an infirmary." Rick said
