"And you used to call ME the drama queen."
Linda smiled a sickly sweet smile.
"Why did you call me if you planned on acting like this?"
Kyle just looked at him confused. Why did Linda called him?
"Actually it was me who asked her to call."
All the heads at the table turned to look at Amia.
"Oh great, the girl who asked me to shut up and get lost," Juan said rolling his eyes.
"I'm sorry okay? I just got tired of people calling me Haley."
Juan grimaced and looked away from her, and Linda's heart clenched. Haley, the name that brought back painful memories for both of them.
"Okay. Why did you call me?" His voice was ten times colder and he looked more aloof than before."
"I don't know."
"Okay then, I'm clearly not wanted here," he put his hands in his pockets, "Goodbye."
He started walking away. Amia didn't know what came over her but she got up and ran over to him and tackled him into a hug. Juan moved back in surprise and looked at the young woman who was hugging him. She looked so much like Haley. He could still remember how he felt when they hugged outside the Effusion of Colours. Her gallery. How both of their energies had connected. He felt the same feelings wash over him again. But for some unexplained reason, this time it was stronger. As if his arms had a mind of their own, they wrapped around Amia, pulling her closer to him. She gripped the fabric of his tank top, burying her face into his chest. He let his head fall on her shoulder. Nuzzling into her neck. He closed his eyes breathing in the floral fragrance that emanated from Amia. He held her back gently. They could both feel tears coming. They didn't know why. Why were they crying to and hugging a complete stranger. For all they knew the other could be a serial killer. But something inside them, a small spark, told them to trust each other. When they touched they felt the circuit complete as the electricity rushed from negativity to positivity. His eyes finally lit up. Both green and blue, together, feeling comfort and happiness and a feeling that had been resurrected from the depths of his soul. They fused into one, their bodies intermingling and their hearts blending. Amia did't flinch, as she'd been doing for four years whenever someone touched her. She felt at ease. Even as his hands gripped her waist tightly, scared that she would let go, she felt calm. She could trust him. The sounds erupting from the vicinity they were in slowly faded away before they could reach their ears. Betrayal, trust, confusion, love, hate and every other feeling that had destroyed their sanity over the years drained out of them, their stability steadily rebuilt itself. Their arms were not ready when their minds told them to let go, so they held on for what seemed like hours. Just basking in each other's warmth, which was protecting them against the cold and cruel world that surrounded them. Wisps of blue seemed to rise from both of them, coalescing in the air above them. They felt tugs in their chest as if their hearts were trying to jump out to join into one.
After all the shape we call a heart is a diagram that depicts two human hearts fused together.
Watching both of them, Linda couldn't help but smile to herself. Her friend had finally found the one for him. The smile was wiped off her face as soon as she realised what she was doing. But then... if her mind had forgiven Juan... why shouldn't her heart? Maybe they should talk. Figure everything out. Maybe she could have her friend back. Her and Haley's Shakespearean Picasso. The one that had labeled them as sass masters. The one that had made fun of their art teacher Mr. Myers with them. The one who had loved her almost as much as she had.
