Juan was indifferent about the news about Haley's father. Yes, he felt a little sad... but however horrible it sounded he wasn't personally affected. But the situation with Amia- that, affected him. Nick. That affected him.
But he pushed that to the back of his head. They were heading out on a date. He fixed his tie and looked in the mirror one last time and turned around but he was forcefully turned back around.
"No hermano, I'm not going to let you go out like that... nope, no way."
Juan groaned, "How did you get in?"
"Your roommate let me in. Also you might want to warn the guy that I'm gay."
Juan put his face in his hands, "What forms of torture are you going to put me through hermana?"
She grinned and rubbed her hands together.
...
Amia sat on the couch, waiting eagerly for the doorbell to ring.
"A few tips..." Linda said, walking into the room, "He loves pop music, his favourite colour is black... and though he won't accept it, he loves Disney and his favourite movie is..."
"Frozen?"
"Moana."
"Thank the Gods."
Linda smiled. Amia had cleaned up well. She was wearing a beige off-shouldered dress with a low back. She had some matching heels on and she'd curled her hair so that it fell in brown and copper curls.
"You look pretty, and you will do fine. Don't be so nervous. It's going to be amazing."
"Hopefully... it's just the unavoidable nerves you know?"
"Nah not really... I'm way too confident and amazing to be nervous."
Amia shot her a glare.
Linda stuck her tongue out at her and the doorbell rang. Amia blushed immediately and got up but Linda beat her to it.
"Hey babe. Where's Romeo?"
Jimena walked into the room smiling, "On his way, is our Juliet ready?"
Amia looked down, "Ummm..."
"Haha yeah."
Jimena squeeled, "This is going to be so cute."
The doorbell rang again and Linda stepped back this time, gesturing Amia to open it.
"Okay, Linda, before you slam the door on my face... Haley?"
Amia staggered back and ran into Linda's arms. She pulled Amia behind her.
"Why are you here?"
"Is that Haley?"
"NICK... WHY are you here?" Linda asked through gritted teeth.
"I came to apologise. I wanted to start over. Turn over a new leaf."
"Does turning over a new leaf involve traumatising people uncle?" Juan asked smoothly, coming up from behind Nick.
"Alejandro? You are here too?"
"Yes. How did you get Linda's room number?"
"I asked Kira. She gave it to me when I told her my circumstances. I'm sure that she understands more than anyone the importance of second chance."
"Oh uncle, I would have given you one... but after what I've just come to know..."
"What do you mean Alejandro?"
