Jimena knew that she was being unfair. Knowing Linda's past... Knowing about Haley. But she couldn't let her go. There was something about the way she fit perfectly in the crook of her arm that she found comforting. The way the world around her disappeared when Linda held her hand. And how she could hardly focus on what she was saying because she was always overwhelmed by her beauty. It was like before Linda came along she was singing all alone, and then once Linda made an appearance they produced a beautiful two part harmony. Jimena had planned a simple evening. A dinner date, going back to her dorm and watching movies. The thing that made the night special was what she had planned. She was going to ask Linda to be her girlfriend. Make things official. Jimena knew that she would say yes, I mean she'd said that she loved her, but there was the expected jittery feeling. The nervousness that Linda instilled in her. And the feeling of satisfaction that bloomed inside her when Linda was pleased. She bit her lip and her heart started pounding faster as she rang the bell. As usual she stood to the side, away from the door. She waited for the familiar creak, indicating that someone was about to open the door. When she heard it, her heart skipped a best in anticipation. There she stood, as beautiful and handsome as ever in some dark jeans and a red flannel shirt with the top few buttons unbuttoned.
"Hello beautiful," Linda greeted, giving her a grin. Jime smiled back at her as she placed a peck on her lips.
"You ready to go?"
"Yupp. Let's get going."
She grabbed her purse and took Jime's hand, closing the door with her foot. Jime yanked her hand back and instead slung Linda's arm around her bare stomach. She ignored the shivers and dropped an arm over Linda's shoulder.
"So where are we going?"
"Nice try."
"Come onnnn curiosity kills babe."
"You can kill that curiosity or keep it tamed."
"Please."
"Nope."
"Dammit."
"Have you ever been on a normal date?"
"Loads of times. But I've never been on a fun normal date because they were always with guys."
"Oh, well time to change that."
"Hmm I'm sure you will," she pecked her on the lips, not being able to help herself.
"So how are we going to get there?"
"Public transport," Jimena answered crisply, feeding on her anticipation.
"Okay then, let's go faster," Linda said, taking her hand in hers and running... she hated running, but at the moment the suspense was her fuel.
Jimena, caught by surprise, tumbled after her, in the least graceful way possible which was completely uncharacteristic of her. She caught herself before her face made contact with the dew-covered grass.
"Stop Lii, baby we are going the wrong way."
This made her stop abruptly and flush a deep red.
"Have you ever used public transport baby?" Jimena asked playfully.
The colour grew impossibly deeper on her cheeks.
