Each day consisted of training, but each day was harder. It's been three weeks now and we only had two more weeks till it was time to battle. I've made new friends at the cabin, some girls and some boys. They were around my age too.
I was thinking about what the battle would be like as I got to lunch. I looked out the big windows and seen it was raining. "What a day..." I mumbled to myself. I started packing my lunch since all of us slayers were on a strict diet. They wanted us to eat meats for protein and vegetables as well. So today I packed myself a chicken sandwich and a salad. I didn't mind the diet since it was for a good cause.
I sat at my original table with my lunch. Kyle wasn't here today so today I sat alone. I began taking a bite of my sandwich when Alex sat down. "Hey, Alex" I said and took another bite of my sandwich. This sandwich was actually pretty good... I though to myself.
"Where's Kyle, Kate?" Alex said while watching me eat. "I don't know, he's probably sick," I said. I was now done with half of my sandwich. "You want to go out tonight?" Alex asked me after I got done with my sandwich. "I can't, I'm busy." I took my salad out of my bag and began eating that. I occasionally took sips of my water I had with me. "How about tomorrow night?" He persisted but I wouldn't give in. "I'm busy every night, sorry"
The bell saved me and I quickly hurried away. It's not like I didn't like Alex, I did. There was just something about him. He's been strange lately.
I walked off to my next class. I've been taking extra notes for Kyle. I didn't want him to miss anything important believe it or not.

After school was over I ended off to Kyle's house to make sure he was okay. I made some brownies for him. Who doesn't love some brownies?
"Kyle?" I called as I barged into his house. The door was unlocked anyways.
"I made you some brownies!" I looked around but didn't hear or see anyone. I guess I'll try his room. I thought to myself and did just that.
"Kyle?" I asked again and opened his door. His room was empty. I guess I'll just leave them on his bed. I wrote a note saying it was from me and set them on his bed. They would be fine there.
Since there was nothing left for me to do here, I went back to my house. I didn't have any homework for the night and my mom's car was now in the drive way. I decided to spend today with her. There was also no training today.
"Hey, mom" I said as I came into the house.
My mom looked up at me. She was sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee in her hand.
"Hello, Kate. How was your day?" She asked as I sat down beside her.
"Like every other day. Kyle wasn't at school today so I made and brought him over some brownies," I turned on the TV and flickered through the channels. "He wasn't home through, so I left them on his bed..." I added.
"That was nice of you. I'm sure he'll love them when he gets a chance." My mom got up from the couch, coffee still in hand, and went into the kitchen. I assumed she was probably making dinner.
"Do you want spaghetti tonight, Kate?" My mom called out to be. I didn't really care. "That's fine," I called back to her.
I just wanted the rest of today to be kind of magical. My mom and I haven't really been spending a lot of time together. I didn't want to worry about anything else today except for her.
Walking into the kitchen, I gave my mom a hand. "What can I help with?" I asked her. "You can set out the plates and forks then put the garlic bread in the oven." I nodded, showing that I would.
I got the plates out of the cupboard and set two of them on the dining table. One for her and one for me. Then I grabbed two napkins and two forks. I set both of those down as well. I wanted to make it look fancy.
I grabbed the garlic bread out of the freezer and set it on a pan after I sprayed the pan with whatever so the bread wouldn't stick or get burnt.
"How was your day?" I asked my mom once the garlic bread was in the oven. My mom had already had the oven heated up so I just had to put it in there and set the timer.
"Oh, it was nice. One of my friends at work was going to the movies next week and she asked me to go with her! Isn't that wonderful?" My mom asked as she stirred the noodles. "Of course! It's nice to see you get a break once in awhile and have fun!" I hugged my mom. I was sincerely happy for her.
About ten minutes later, both the noodles and the hamburger was done.
I took a large spoon and stirred sauce into the chopped down hamburger. Once it was done I set it on the table along with the noodles and the garlic bread that was now done too.
My mom sat down and I sat across from her. We made small chat as we ate our dinner. It was around 6:30 by now.
"What did you want to watch?" I asked my mom. "Maybe a mystery..." My mom mumbled with garlic bread and spaghetti in her mouth. Gross.
"We could watch one where the girl gets kidnapped. Those are always good." I spun some noodles around my fork and plopped them into my mouth.
"Then we'll watch one of those." My mom gave me a soft smile and I gave her one back.
After we were done, my mom went into the living room to pick out the movie. I told her I could clean up. I didn't want my mom having any worries or stress going on.
I washed our dishes and dried them as well. I put them back where they belonged after. Then I washed the table top and wrapped up the left overs to put into the fridge for later.
"Did you find one yet?" I asked my mom once I was completely done.
"I guess I did find one. It's not really what we wanted, but it is a new movie!" I sat down beside her and looked at the TV screen. "Before I Fall?" I asked confused. I knew it was a book too. "Yup!" My mom was weird at times. She sometimes acted like a teenager again. Probably because she really loved to read and she loved new movies.
"Alright, begin the movie." I didn't know what it was about, but from the Netflix description it was about a girl who lived the same day over and over again after a car crash. The trailer did look good, so I decided to give it a chance.
~1 hour and a half later~
"OMG! WHY?!" My mom screeched into my ear and was squeezing the life out of me.
"Stop it, Mom! I can't breathe!" She literally does this every time.
"I'm sorry, Hun. It's just soo sad..." My mom said while sniffling and blowing her nose into a tissue.
"Then let's cheer you up. Let's watch something happy." I smiled at my mom and she agreed. Throughout the rest of the night that's all we did was watch movies until it was time to go to sleep. I did have school the next day.
"Goodnight, Mom" I hugged her and began walking up the stairs. "Goodnight, Kate!" My mom called after me.
I got to the bathroom and took a quick shower before brushing my teeth. It was almost midnight and I had a long day tomorrow.
Once back in my room, I set my alarm and turned off my light. I then crawled under my blankets and closed my eyes.
I wonder if Kyle will be at school tomorrow...
