What are oc books? They are basically a book created by someone who want to ~express their creativity to the world~
They also normally fall under the title of:
1)my ocs!
2)Oc book
3) i-love-my-totally-original-ocs-which-are-actually-anime-screenshots

Yeah, anime/random tumblr girl screenshot ocs are what im gonna bitch about today:)

First of all, an "oc"means "original character" it fact "oc" is literally the abbreviation for that. So this means, the character you create must be ORIGINAL.
Screenshotting a random image you got off the internet IS NOT ORIGINAL. No matter how good the character description is, i don't think this shit counts as an oc -_-

Secondly, its freaking art theft. Your claiming some artist drawing as your own ESPECIALLY if you are those weebs on the internet being all: "oh this is my oc *Japanese name* she's *blah blah blah* this how she looks like *art theft screenshot*"
im not completely against this because i do it SOMETIMES(when i need a reference or something)
But you have to credit the artist.
BY WRITING THEIR NAME.                (eg. instagram acc/ deviantart acc /wtv acc they have)
Just saying "oh this art is not mine, credit to the original artist" is not enough.

Lastly, screenshotting anime images of the internet and claiming them as "My ocs" is just pure lazy and cancerous. This is worst then base users because at least they have tried:/

Now for part 2 of this chapter:

THE EDGE OF OCS

Because now everyone on the ever so influential internet are all: "im so depressed", "i hope a car hits me" apparently to those brainless freaks out there YOU ARENT DEPRESSED. Sorry to disappoint you but that car is not gonna hit you. If you were really depressed you would not be posting that shit all over social media *eye roll so back it hits my brain*
Either way since to these creeps "edgy/dark/emo/depressed" is the new cool they decided to incorporate that fact into their ocs.
They give the character a look so freaking dark they blend into the night.
For example:

See the blood all over? See the love for knifes and killing? See the darkness? Well there we go. A try-to-hard oc. Sure i get that you are trying to make an horror oc but...DOES THIS SHIT LOOK SCARY TO YOU. I can take her out with a flick of my finger. If you want someting dark and scary don't throw it in people's face. Use suspense and actual monstrous looking creatures. Not find them at sluts-r-us

For those that just want a dark design to fit their equally dark backstory. I suggest you do this:

1) if its loved ones died, of course they would be depressed but instead of making her go crazy and kill.more people to fill the void. Try this thing called REALISM and make them go see a doctor for help or talk to a friend

2) if its bullied sue: don't make them go nuts and kill all the bullies
And define that as staying strong,maybe state that they have this hobby that "comforts" them after each bullying episode. Or something idk.

3) loner sue: don't design her with the classic hoodie and long hair with one sode coveing her face. Try a different look. Loners are normal people after a just because they don't enjoy socialising as much as you doesnt mean they have to look like the paedophile-next-door

In conclusion to both parts of this rant: be original and depression is not "cool" and you shouldn't "totally aim to be depressed" also it should never be stylised to be
