Annabeth's POV:
After all of that chaos, I had matters to attend. I went back to my cabin, and sat at my desk. I stared at my homework, and decided that it should wait. I have more important duties than homework. I grabbed my cellphone from my chest and dialed the number.
My call was answered," Hey Annabeth! What's up?" I spoke," Hey Rachel! Okay, so I need help on something." Rachel asked," What is it?" I cleared," I need help with shopping. There's been so much chaos with Hera and all, but I just want to get that out of Percy's mind with me and him on Christmas."
Rachel wondered," But don't you have to go see your dad?" I shook my head," I'll ask if he could come over here, if it's not going to cause trouble." I felt Rachel smile," Alright Annabeth! Let's go shopping!! Meet me at the mall in like 10, 20 minutes." She hung up, and I got up to get ready.
-----Manhattan Mall-----
I waited by the entrance to spot a red head with paint splattered jeans. "Annabeth!" Rachel called. She came up, and we hugged. "Okay, so what are you going to get Percy?" she asked. I shrugged," That's why I called you over here. I have no idea." Rachel nodded," Let's go, shall we?"
We stepped inside to see the mall bustling with people. Many had carts filled with gifts from cooking supplies, to toys, to expensive shoes. Curiosity took me over, cause there was so many stores to buy from. "Where do we start?" I asked. Rachel paused," Well.........let's start with something he loves: the ocean." I said," Well is there a Poseidon themed store here for demigods?" We giggled for a bit, and started our shopping journey.
We went through every store. Percy doesn't need new shoes from Footlocker. He doesn't like video games for sure. Nothing really appealed to his interests. Rachel and I were about to give up when we passed Perfume Heaven. "Oh Percy! Maybe she'll like this one!" I heard a woman shriek. It was Percy's mom, and they were shopping as well.
"Hey Percy," I smiled. My boyfriend turned," Oh hey Annabeth!" He came over for a hug, then he spotted Rachel. "Hey Rachel! Long time no see," Percy said. They shook hands, and Percy's mom came over," Pery, I bet she'll like-" She stopped," Annabeth! Hi!" I noticed that her baby bump had gotten fairly bigger.
"Hey Mrs. Jackon! Wow, is the baby almost here?" I asked. She nodded," Yeah, turns out, it's a girl! She'll come in just a few months." I said," Congrats! Looks like Percy's getting a little sis." Percy gave me a crooked smile," So what are you doing here?" I paused," Oh you know.....shopping for family."
"Same," Percy agreed. Rachel interrupted," Okay Annabeth, let's get back to shopping! Bye Percy!" Rachel grabbed my shoulders and headed out the door. "Come on, we need to find a gift. You were lucky Percy didn't have any suspicions." I nodded, and thought in silence. What the heck am I supposed to get him?! I thought.
We passed through a couple more stores when Rachel said," Hey, how about jewelry?" I smiled," I have the perfect idea." We went to the closest jewelry store, and I went to business. I scoured the displays, looking for the perfect gift for my boyfriend. There it is! I smiled. I looked at the present, needing it for Percy.
It was a small, necklace. It was sterling silver, and it was able to put a picture in it. I quickly found the clerk and asked for it. I was able to engrave 2 things; the front has a trident on it painted blue, and a message on the back saying Merry Christmas Seaweed Brain. I thought, This is perfect. Rachel came over," Good idea Annabeth!" I nodded, and grabbed the necklace box.
After a long night of shopping, Rachel and I parted ways, and I went back to camp. I went inside my cabin and set the necklace on my desk. I got ready for bed, and crawled into bed. Good night Percy, I thought. I wrapped myself in my blanket, and fell asleep. The world around me turned bright, and I was in a different world.
-----Annabeth's Dream-----
My dream self woke up in a bedroom. The curtains were wide open, and the bright sun engulfed the room. I sat up on a bed to see a grown-up man lying down next to me. The man woke up," Good morning Annabeth." He grabbed my head and kissed my forehead. As he backed up, I noticed it was Percy!
His features have changed a bit. His jet black hair was shorter. His shoulders were strong and broad. He had been working out, and he started to grow facial hair. But besides that, he was still my boyfriend. "Where am I?" I asked. Just when Percy was about to answer, a little girl ran into the room.
"Mommy! Daddy!" the girl said. She jumped onto the bed, and Percy grabbed her into a hug. "Well good morning Alysia! How's our little princess?" Alysia nodded," I'm doing great daddy! I'm ready for my first day of school!" She turned to me and squeezed me," Good morning mommy!" I released and saw my "daughter."
She had Percy's sea green eyes that glistened in the light. Her smile brought joy to the room. She had my hair, blonde and curly. And she had the sense of smarts and strategy. Alysia was perfect. "Come on mommy! Let's go!" Alysia smiled. She grabbed my hand and we headed to the living room.
The room was tile colored white. The couched were leather brown, and the kitchen had a granite island. The plasma TV was on showing the new episode of Dora the Explorer. I saw Percy go to the kitchen and started to cook pancakes. "Umm, are you sure you should could cook?" I asked. Percy gave me his crooked smile," I've improved over the years. And by the way Annabeth, we're going to see Jason and Piper for dinner."
I was confused," Who's Jason and Piper?" Percy replied," You don't remember? They were our best friends back then. We were all heroes!" Percy came over," Are you feeling okay Annabeth?" I nodded, but Percy saw right through me," I don't think so. Hey, how about you go back to bed, and I'll bring Alysia to school."
I nodded," Yeah, that sounds good." Alysia got up from the couch and hugged my legs," Bye mommy! I'll miss you." Her voice was so adorable. I smiled," Bye Alysia. See you after school." Percy grabbed the pink Barbie backpack and grabbed Alysia's hand. "Bye honey, I'll be back in a bit." They both waved, and were out the door.
I turned to see to see a shrouded woman behind me. I jumped in surprise and fear. "This is a good future for you Annabeth," the mysterious woman said. She seemed to be asleep, and her complexion was almost dirt-like. "Who- who are you?" I asked. The sleeping woman smiled,"Oh I think you know who I am. But you'll figure it out soon."
Her eyes were glowing blue like the sea, but they changed colors every few seconds. "This is a future that I think you find appealing to you Annabeth," the woman said. She continued," But this future will not be happening for you unfortunately." The woman smiled, and the home turned to darkness.
"This future will never exist for you daughter of Athena," she said. The lady's shroud turned dirt-like. Her smile creepily widened, and another scene appeared in front of me. The whole camp in front of me was burning to the ground. Monsters ran around smashing and killing campers. The cabins fell to ashes. And I spotted someone by the firepit dying from stab wounds.
"Oh my gods Percy!!" I screamed. I ran over to him to see him lying caked in mud and blood. "Annabeth.....get out of here...." he stuttered. "Don't worry Percy, I'm here," I cried. Percy whispered,"I love you Annabeth." I replied," I love you too Percy." Then his eyes fell closed.
I cried for what probably was hours, then the mysterious visitor came over," See foolish girl. Your future will bring pain and sorrow. Hera's plan will fail, and this will be the upcoming future." I turned to sse the lady smiling,"Enjoy it while it lasts daughter of Athena."
The woman vanished, and I fell in complete darkness. My eyes bolted open, lying in sweat and tears. My heart was racing. The dream was so intense. I just wanted time to stop and to let me breath. I laid in my bed and started to cry.
