Spending my first night alone was terrifying, I don't remember getting even a blink at all.

Why did that boy have to tell me about those dumb creatures!?  I growl to myself.

After hours and hours of me tossing and turning, the sun came up.

I stood up, my head dizzy and my legs wobbly. My eyes were so dry I couldn't stop blinking to try to make them stop burning.

I didn't have a fire or anything that night, so I just left.

I had no idea where I was going, so I just walked anywhere I could to pass the time until night.

I was starving, tired, and thirsty. I feared I would die.

And I would have if I hadn't decided to continue walking one night.

I had figured if I wasn't going to sleep, there was no use laying down and staring at the stars.

That night I had walked deep into a forest, hoping it was the one I had walked through on my first day here.

I didn't see a path, or that burnt village, but I wasn't too worried about it.

There can't be paths leading everywhere in the woods, right?

Wrong.

I ventured deep into the forest, but there was nothing there. And as soon as I was turning around to walk back, I found a path.

Relieved, I followed it.

As I ventured forward, I heard owls cooing and I heard critters crawling around. I looked up to see what little parts of the moon and stars that weren't covered by the leaves of the trees surrounding me.

Finally, I saw a village. Not one that was burnt down, but one that was springing with life.

Of course everyone was in their little homes, but I could see light through the windows, and farm animals eating whatever food possible.

I snuck into the barn and found myself a nice place to finally sleep. I laid on top of a haystack and almost in seconds, I fell asleep.

That was the best sleep I had gotten since I can remember.
