Sadie Martin's POV.

"Wait... How do you know he's in a cave?" I asked, my brain felt like it was going to explode from all this confusion.

Why of all places would Jackson and Phillip go to a cave?

"I sent spies to look for him, he's definitely there. We will follow the guards to where he is, take Phillip and his family to safety, and take Jackson to the deepest dungeon." Queen Sophie said. She seemed certain her plan would work, but she made it sound so easy.

"My queen," I started.

"Sophie, darling." She smiled kindly.

"Right." I sighed. It seemed wrong to not call her the queen. "With all due respect... I don't think this will be as easy as you think."

"Oh, I know." She frowned, hatred in her eyes. It kind of scared me to see someone so kind looking so angry, but I felt the same hatred.

Sophie continued with the plan, and as she explained it, I felt more certain that this would go well. Sophie is very smart, it seems she's delt with this kind of thing before.

We walked out of the castle, and almost immediately I saw Lilly, clean and happy, eating a ton of hay. Her saddle is gone, replaced with a new leather saddle, with a light blue quilt underneath. She was too far away for me to see the details of the new saddle and quilt, but I could see gold from the distance.

Sophie clasped her hands together. "Oh, I forgot!"

"Forgot what?" I asked, smiling.

"Your horse, she looked dirty and hungry, and the saddle was poorly made, so I took her to the royal stables, and had her all fixed up!"

"Thank you, Sophie. This means a lot to me." I hugged her, and she hugged me back.

We stopped hugging, and I stood awkwardly in front of her.

She giggled, and motioned to Lilly.

"Go on, saddle up!" She said.

I smiled at her and hugged her again before I ran to Lilly.

I stroked her main, as she greeted me by nuzzling the palm of my hand. I took a look at the saddle, there were swirls, and lines and flowers all over the saddle, and my name was on it as well. I hopped onto Lilly, and watched as Sophie walked next to me, next to...

A Unicorn?! Are you serious!!!

"Woah." I said, gaping at the unicorn. It's white, like my horse, and it's long horn sparkled in the sun.

"This is Snow." Queen Sophie stroked her fingers through Snows hair.

She hopped onto her horse and we walked out until the woods, three guards following behind us.

We walked for hours, and for each step we took, the stronger my fears we're getting.

"Are you sure three guards are gonna be enough?" I ask.

She looks at me with a goofy smile. "To take out one man with a knife? I'm sure it'll be fine."

I stare at Lilly's mane, stroking my fingers through her soft, silky hair.

"Why are you so worried?" Sophie asks. "This man, surely he's not that big of a threat to you?"

"Of course he isn't a threat to me. I'm just worried... What if Phillip teams up with him?" I look up from my horse and to Queen Sophie. She reaches her hand out to me, and curls her fingers into mine comfortingly.

"Everything will be alright, Sadie. You just worry about that wrist of yours." She glances down to my swollen wrist, black, purple, and blue.

"I'm able to move it now," I smiled. "it hurts when I do, but at least I can feel my wrist at all."

I've been wrapping my wrist up with whatever I could find; leaves, toilet paper, I even took some of Phillip's clean socks when he was sleeping. But Sophie gave me proper bandages this morning, so I haven't been worrying about finding the sturdiest leaf.

"Well," Sophie giggles. "that's a way to think positive!"

We laugh a little and our trip to the cave gets shorter, and the further we go, the more I recognize the place.

This is that cave Jackson took me to the first time I met him.

"This is the cave, Captain Jimmy Jr?" Queen Sophie asks, her voice stern and professional.

"Yes, your highness. This is it."

"Lead the way." Sophie ordered. The three guards marched in front of us with their swords ready to attack.

Shivers shot through my spine.

"Are you ready?" Sophie asks, squeezing my hand to stop it from shaking.

I didn't even know I was shaking!

"Ready." I nodded.

We walked through the vines, and there they were.

Phillip sits on the floor, leaning against a wall of the mildewy cave. His hands are tied behind his back, with his legs tied in front of him. A rag is in this mouth, gagging him. He stares in fear at two people across from him.

I'm guessing they're his family, as one of them is a beautiful young women, with long brown hair. The smaller girl has her hair in piggy tails. They both look in fear at Phillip, as they're in the same position as him.

"Nice of you to join us!" Jackson smiled, waving a knife in the air. His threatening voice makes me shake.

"Jackson, if you let them go you will have a less severe punishment." Sophie threatened, shooting daggers at him with her eyes.

Jackson ignores her threat and looks at me, his eyes narrowing.

"Well... Looks like someone didn't do as they were told." Jackson scolds, making me jump.

"You lied to me." I stuttered. "You said she was evil, that I would be doing good!"

"Tsk tsk tsk" Jackson shakes his head, now sharpening his blade with a block of wood. "You never listened to me. I guess I had forgotten that."

"What do you mean?" I ask, but something tells me I knew what he meant. I didn't want to believe it.

"You didn't know?" He laughed. His voice horrifyingly familiar.

It can't be...

"Sadie, surely you'd remember your own father?"
