Sadie's POV.I must have fallen asleep, because I opened my eyes to find myself in a cave.
No sign of Billy, or the wagon he drove me in. All there was left was a note on a cloak I don't remember having before I fell asleep.
Darcy,
I'm guessing you are wondering why you are in a cave, with a cloak. This is a letter to tell you everything, a letter to fill you in on who you are, what you are, and who you will be.I am not Billy. My name is Jackson Bailey. I'm a man of surprises, as people call me. But in other words, I am a wizard. I know all, see all, and do all.
For example, your name is Sadie Martin, not Darcy. You're a twelve year old girl who finds herself in a new world, separated from your mother, all because of a book.
I know all about your mother, Cassie Martin. I know what she is thinking and doing. I refuse to tell you how she is doing at the moment because it would distract you from your mission.
Now, as a wizard, I have the power to put someone to sleep. I had put you to sleep so you wouldn't know where you were, how you got in this cave, and the directions back to my home.
The rest is up to you.
Sincerely,
Jackson Bailey
Great. There's a wizard jerk head who knows all my information.
He gave me more questions than I had in the first place. What about my mom will distract me? What mission to I have? All I want to do is go home, and I can't do that now!
I crumple the thin paper, and throw it accross the hollow cave. I scream louder than a penguin who lost its baby.
I fall onto the ground, tears rolling down my cheeks. My stomach aches as I weep, and the cold stone ground digs into my skin with its sharp edges.
All I can think about is all the memories of my mom and I. How whenever I cried she would hold me in her arms and tell me everything would be okay.
How she smelled like flowers all the time, and her hair would always be curly, her face always happy and beautiful. She was perfect. She was my best friend. And now she was gone.
I would never see my mom again.
I cried harder, I didn't even know it was possible. I felt like I was dying. It doesnt seem real. This sort of things only happened back in the sixteen forties... Or in movies.
This couldn't be happening. Not to me. I felt like I was being stabbed in the back. I couldn't stop crying, I tried and tried but I could never stop.
I cried myself to sleep that night.
I dreamt of my mom's soft face.
"Everything will be alright, my little Sadie bug." She said.
I swear I cried in my sleep.
