Sadie Martin's POV.

The village flourishes  with people, market stands all over the paths, selling pots, fruits, bread, meat, clothes, and so much more. People are scattered around the village, walking into homes and shops.

I walked around, looking for a blacksmith. It's frustrating how Jackson didn't give me a name of the man. But I'm sure if I asked someone about a blacksmith, they'd know who I was talking about.

I walk around, asking people about the blacksmith, and where I could possibly find him. People would just glance at me, and then get back to what they were doing. Would no one listen to a child?! I guess not. When I finally start to give up, a woman walks up to me.

Her hair is straight, black as olives. her eyes a strange and unique purple, and her skin pale as chalk. She smiled a big smile, her face starting to look like the kind you'd see in  a nightmare. Her jaw bones poked out, for she had no cheeks. And her eyes widened as her thin, red lips curled.

"I heard you were looking for a blacksmith," she said, her voice dark and yet beautiful. "turn left and you should see the only stone building in the village. And that is where you'll find him."

"Th-thank you." I say, I could hear my voice shaking. She frightened me, but I had no idea why.

I run off, desperate to get away from that woman. I could feel her smirking at me, with her devilish grin. I couldn't get her face out of my head. I knew she would be in my nightmares.

Once I lose sight of her, I start walking again. I walk to my left, and just as she said, I see the only stone building I've seen since I got here. Smiling, I walk over towards the building.

I could see elements of a blacksmith's shop. A furnace, fire to make the swords and tools, and racks full of sharp, deadly looking weapons and shields. Whoever this person was, I definitely didn't wanna get on their bad side.

I walk in to see more weapons and tools, and a counter with a man behind it, cleaning a blade with a rag. His eyes brown, gray hair surrounding his head, the sides of his face, all the way down to his chin. He's wearing a leather tunic, and pants. I can't see his shoes, but that  didn't bother me.

"Hello," I said shyly, he didn't look up.

"Hello?" I say, raising my voice just a little.

"Hueh?" He looks up,  and his face frowns as he looks down at me. "Oh. What do you want?"

"Jackson sent me here, he said you would give me a place to stay..." I say.

"Oh, alright. Follow me." His frown turned into a faint smile. I followed him behind the booth, and we walked through a hallway. He walked me into a room, where there was a comfy looking bed and a dresser.

"Thank you, Mr. Blacksmith." I say, smiling. Finally, after months of sleeping on a cold, hard floor, I get to sleep on a bed!

Chuckling, he patted my shoulder. "No problem, Sadie."

"How do you know my name?"

"Jackson mailed me a letter just a day before you came. He said you were coming."

"Oh." Doesn't surprise me one bit!

The blacksmith walks away, leaving me in the room alone. I walk to the bed, and just as I lay on it, I feel my eyes start to close.

Natalie Martin's POV.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I wait at my daughter's side as the heart monitor beeps, signaling every time her heart pumps. I hold her hand tightly, waiting for her to wake up. She lies on a hospital bed, in a hospital gown and a bandage is wrapped around her chest, where she stabbed herself in the heart.

For every beep the monitor makes, a spark of hope lights up inside me. Her eyes are closed, and I'm waiting desperately for her eyes to open.  Cassie's hand grips her thin fingers around mine. Her eye lids open, just enough for me to see a glimpse of her blue eyes.

"S-sadie?" She says, her voice dry.

"No, it me, baby, it's your Mom." I say, subconsciously putting my other hand on top of hers. My eyes sting as they water.

"I..." She takes a deep, shaky breath. "I wanna see Sadie." She coughs, and I quickly put another pillow behind her head, moving it in different positions until she stops coughing.

"I... I see her." She smiles, closing her eyes.

And as her grip loosens on my hand, I hear the long, dreadful beep of the heart monitor.

And that was the last one I heard before the doctors told me that she was gone.
