"When are you leaving?" I finally get the nerves to ask him. I watch the world around myself as I wait for him to respond.
"Two days." He sighs, his eyes locked on the road as I look back at him.
There's a moment of silence.
"Do you want some ice cream?" He asks out of the blue.
"Sure." I go back to looking out the window. We pass many people and happy couples walking down the sides of the street. One day, I hope I will be one of them.

Jacks POV
As I drive to the nearest ice cream parlor, I can't help but notice how quiet Kristina is. She seems upset and it's killing me. We've gotten to know each other quite well these past two days and I don't want to lose someone like her.
I'm lost in my thoughts, filled with excitement but sadness. I'd be lying to myself if I said I didn't like her. The thing is I don't know if she feels the same thing I do as when I am around her. She basically makes my life so much happier, even just with her smile. The crazy thing is that I've fallen this hard in only two days and I don't want to give her the wrong idea.
I look over at her and she looks deep in thought as she looks out the open window, her long beautiful hair blowing around in the wind.
"There's one," She speaks, almost scaring me. The sign reads 'Ice cream'. I put on my blinker and pull into the small parking lot. We both unbuckle and get out at the same time and walk into the small building. There are a few children with their parents enjoying a cone.
"Hi, what can I get for you?" A lady asks, picking up an ice cream scooper.
"I'll have two scoops of birthday cake in a cone, please," Kristina tells the lady.
"Sure thing," She fills the cone and hands it over the counter to Kristina.
"Will this be together or separate?" She asks us.
"Separate,"
"Together," We answer at the same time. "I'm paying," I tell her.
"No, it's fine," Kristina gives me a smile.
"I'm paying, separate or not." I stand my ground. She sighs, giving in.
"And could I get two scoops of mint chocolate chip please?"
"Of course." She hands me my cone and we head to the register and I pay.
I thank the lady and Kristina and I head back outside.
"What do you want to do?" I ask, taking a lick of my ice cream.
"Doesn't matter," she replies, shrugging her shoulders. We hop back in my jeep and sit for a few minutes so I can finish my cone.
Finally, I start my car and drive off. I got the idea to show her a secret place that only Jack and I know of. My aunt and uncle own land on their farm just outside Omaha and I used to always visit them. Anyways, Jack came with me one time and we went on an exploration in the woods and found a small river with water so clear, you can see the fish. Of course, we walked along the river a little ways and found a waterfall right next to a field of bright wild flowers. Jack and I would go out there and pick flowers or play in the dirt by the river.
I head out towards the country.
"Where are we going?" She asks as I drive.
"A place that Jack and I always went when we were kids," I explain. "I think you'll like it." I add on and she nods.
"Okay." I turn my radio on low and press shuffle on my phone.
Of course my own song comes on and she laughs.
"Should I change it?" I ask her.
"What? No! I love this song." She sings along and I join in. I look over and her eyes are closed as her lips move with the lyrics. Wow.
