You were lounging in bed, deep into a book you'd picked up from the nearby bookstore a couple of days ago. It was one of those epic fantasy tales about a boy who got stuck in a game world with NPCs as the most OP character ever, and now he was on a quest to find his friends and find a way back home. You were absolutely crazy about these kinds of stories—fantasy, sci-fi, you name it. Your collection was impressive, boasting over fifty volumes filled with tales just like this one, and you couldn't help but feel a little proud of it.
After finishing the twelfth chapter, you set the book aside and made your way over to the computer. You turned it on and sat there, staring blankly at the screen for a moment. Then, suddenly, memories from earlier today flooded back, leaving you feeling uneasy. Your heart started racing as you recalled how All Might had saved you during that day. Just the thought of him swooping in at the last second made your crush deepen even more.
You felt a mix of emotions—happiness bubbling up inside you, but also a wave of embarrassment crashing over you. You had been such a klutz earlier, practically tripping over yourself in front of him. The image of his slightly embarrassed yet relieved face flashed in your mind, and you shook your head, trying to pull yourself back to reality. Come on, you thought, you need to stop acting like this! All Might probably thinks I'm just a total crybaby now. You sighed, clicking on a movie on your laptop, hoping to drown out the whirlwind of thoughts racing through your head.
Just as you were about to escape into a different world on-screen, your sister's voice suddenly interrupted your thoughts. "(Y/N), have you seen my glasses? I can't remember where I put them..." Nanami peeked into your room, her expression a mix of curiosity and concern. Your sister, seven years older than you, was the only person who knew about your crush on All Might. You really needed someone to confide in, especially with your feelings for him. At school, no one had a clue about your secret, leaving you feeling kind of isolated.
"No, sorry. I haven't seen them," you replied, looking up at her. You couldn't help but feel that she was better than you in so many ways. Your mom had always told you to take a page out of Nanami's book. She'd always seemed to think Nanami was the "better daughter." With good grades in a regular school (not like the superhero academy), a great figure, gorgeous hair, and even her first boyfriend, you couldn't shake the feeling that you were always living in her shadow. And then there was you, struggling with your own insecurities. You felt like your mother had molded you into someone too afraid of the world. You knew you were being hard on yourself, but those comparisons just stuck with you.
Nanami inherited a weaker Quirk from your mom—she could speed up the growth of plants. She worked in a nursery, taking care of trees and flowers, and was already 24, with an adorable "almost" fiancé. The thought of her moving out and leaving you alone with your mom made you shudder. You couldn't even imagine what that would be like. Total disaster, for sure.
"I thought they might be in the bathroom," she said, a hint of frustration creeping into her voice. "I took a shower earlier, but when I checked, nothing was there. I left my spare pair at work, and without them, I'm practically blind!" She laughed lightly, looking around your room as if the glasses might magically appear.
"They're definitely not here, Nanami. Want me to help you look? Maybe I'll have a hunch or something..." You offered, standing up and stretching a little, shaking off the lingering thoughts of All Might.
"Sure! Two heads are better than one," Nanami smiled back, but then she froze, eyes wide, as she noticed something behind you. "(Y/N), is that...?"
You turned to see what had caught her attention, and her gaze landed on your outfit. Your costume was a mix of futuristic vibes and intricate leaf patterns, giving it a unique and stylish look. You had these cool watches on your shoulders and arms that synced perfectly with your Quirk. The hands of the watches moved backward or forward depending on how you used your powers, and you were super proud of how you had designed it.
